On Jan 5, 2021 I traveled to DC with my nephew Matthew, a brother and a bunch of my nephew's friends. The following morning we should have gotten back in our cars and gone home. But we didn't. We thought our voices would be heard and a stolen election would be investigated. Instead, my nephew was arrested a week later and was facing over a decade in prison for misdemeanors and a bogus felony charge (which was later dropped by the SCOTUS). 13 months later, he hanged himself. The SCOTUS ruling came 2 years after he died. Matt's father died that same year, a broken hearted man who was filled with grief. ALL of the people we voted for ignored every phone call we made asking for help. WE voted for these people! The ones from other states, were people we thought were good, so we called them too, only to be ignored. (Thanks for nothing Jim Jordan, Rand Paul and Ron Johnson). But, we showed up to vote the next few years. The Matthew Lawrence Perna Bill was written in 2023, and the only person who co-sponsored it was Marjorie Taylor-Greene. She sponsored it again and again, Massie was the only one who supported it. NONE of the people in my state or MY family's state would support this Bill. THESE ARE PEOPLE WE VOTED FOR. We voted again in 2024, hoping that FINALLY we would have people in who were not afraid to bring JUSTICE to those who orchestrated a day that ruined my family. Matthew is dead. My brother is dead. Justice hasn't come. So, yeah...I am done voting. My family is too. Go ahead and tell me that I am the problem. Tell me how we need to drain the swamp. Tell me how much my vote counts. Hate me. Believe me, the hatred I endured along side my family when everyone learned we were January 6 attendees can't compare to the hatred from strangers on X. The hatred Matthew received pushed him into hopelessness, and that was from Democrats...so now the hatred comes from Republicans.
