#HappyNewYear ! 2024 is here! Bats are still hibernating, which is a state of inactivity characterised by lower body temperature, slower breathing, and lower metabolic rate. They will slowly start waking up in Spring when temperatures increase and insects are around.

If you're celebrating #Halloween or Guy Fawkes night with a bonfire, only build the fire on the day it's to be lit! 🦔 Always check for young children, hedgehogs & other animals including pets, before lighting. ❗#sharetomakeaware - save the lives of #hedgehogs & other wildlife.

Weekend bat box monitoring to end the UK bat season 😍

Bats play an important role in many habitats around the world. Some tropical plants depend partly or wholly on certain bat species to pollinate their flowers or spread their seeds, while many bats, including all British species, help control insects by feeding on them.
