This is very common. There was(is) a famous hospital in the 1990s at Luz, Mylapore, Chennai. The Dr-Owner was politically connected. Was even extremely close to a former CM. I used to practice there in the evenings. His standard instructions to all medical personnel was to scare & admit all stomach pain cases( Acidity, Gastritis, Peptic Ulcer), as Acute Appendicitis. He wd then perform unnecessary Appendicectomy on all of them, & give them a bomb shell as Bill. He did not even hv an MS( Gen. Surgery) degree. This racket went on fr many yrs. Popular film stars, & most celebrities of Chennai got admitted in that hospital, because of its prime location. In those times, half the youth of posh Mylapore roamed around with absent appendix, courtesy this money- hungry scoundrel. Today he is dead, & there is a different ethical management.

MD failure and Tantric During my difficult times after failing MD it was my Guru Padma Vibhushan Prof BM Hegde who helped me with a job and motivated me Pranams to him This is the letter he sent me 45 years ago

This story is controversial but it's true. The Kavacha That Came Back ! In the summer of 1981, I was a young doctor preparing for my MD examinations. The pressure was immense, and the stars seemed to be against me. An astrologer had looked at my chart and delivered a grim prediction: I would fail in my first attempt. The words lingered like a shadow. My father, Dr. T. Sankaran — a renowned entomologist, often called the father of biocontrol in India, with an insect species named after him — was not one to leave things to fate alone. A practical scientist by training, he had seen enough of life to respect forces beyond the microscope. When he heard the astrologer’s warning, he decided to seek help from an unusual quarter. He took me to Prof. R. T. Thevar, a well-known Tantric from Palani, Tamil Nadu. Prof. Thevar lived simply in his modest home in Anaimalai Puram Colony, Palani His letterhead proudly announced him as “Tantric,” complete with a post box number and pin code. After listening to our situation, he prepared a Kavacha — a protective talisman — and gave it to me with very specific instructions. “Wear this with faith,” he said, “and follow every rule I have given you. Do not let it come near a mashana (cremation ground).” I carried the Kavacha with me through the days leading up to the exam. But when the results came, the astrologer’s prediction proved true. I had failed. Disheartened, I returned the Kavacha to Prof. Thevar. A few days later, a worn envelope arrived. Inside was the same Kavacha, carefully wrapped, along with a handwritten letter on his old letterhead paper. Dated 13/8/81, it read in blue ink: “Dear client, You ought not to have returned the Kavacha! However you may again use the Kavacha and appear for the Exam. Yours faithfully, R. T. Thevar” The directness of the letter made me smile despite everything. There was no scolding, just a firm instruction to try again with the same talisman. I wore the Kavacha once more, this time with greater resolve. And in my second attempt, I passed. Some months later, I had the opportunity to meet Prof. Thevar in person. He looked at me calmly and said, “Think carefully. Did you strictly follow all the instructions I gave you the first time?” I reflected deeply. Then it struck me. Just before my first MD exam, my close friend Baliga had lost his mother. In the midst of grief and friendship, I had accompanied him to the burning ghat — the mashana. I was wearing the Kavacha that day. I had gone there to support my friend, never imagining that this single act of compassion had inadvertently broken one of the most important rules given by the Tantric. Prof. Thevar nodded when I told him. “That is why it did not work the first time,” he said simply. “The energy was disturbed.” Years have passed since that letter arrived in 1981. The creased, taped paper with its blue handwriting still sits safely with me — a fragile but powerful reminder of faith, science, and the mysterious ways in which life sometimes works. My father’s scientific mind and Prof. Thevar’s tantric wisdom came together that year in an unusual partnership. And somewhere in between the laboratory and the sacred fire, I learned that sometimes, even a small oversight can change the course of events… and that second chances, when given with an open heart, can rewrite our story
