Who compared the two? I got to know Wilt when he was in his mid 40’s. He played with us at UCLA all the time in the summer. Saw him dominate big men 20+ yrs younger, when he felt so inspired. Would hold court afterward, entrancing us with his legendary exploits, while laying on the grass in front of the gym…what a time!

The night before the game, a group of Maryland students were making a ruckus outside of the Miners hotel. So, Don Haskins went out and invited those students to have a beer with him, so his team could sleep. The night of Haskins becoming a national championship he “sat up with them (the students) drinking beers and making small talk until the early hours.” @600espnelpaso
