Today, the Trump Administration approved Public Assistance for an additional 4 counties that were impacted by the January 23-27 severe winter weather. This brings the total number of counties approved for Public Assistance Category (A-G) to 38. The 4 counties that were approved today are: Choctaw, Itawamba, Oktibbeha, and Wilkinson.   The 34 counties that were previously approved include: Adams, Alcorn, Attala, Benton, Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Claiborne, Grenada, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lee, Leflore, Marshall, Montgomery, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Union, Warren, Washington, Webster, Yalobusha, and Yazoo, as well as the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Public Assistance will support municipalities and counties by providing them with grants for debris removal, life-saving emergency protective measures, and the restoration of public infrastructure. Thank you to @realDonaldTrump and his administration for approving my request. Mississippi remains grateful for your assistance.

❄️COLD BURST❄️ Temperatures will drop back down below freezing tonight (3/16/26) into early tomorrow morning (3/17/26). Now is a good time to consider the Four P's of Preparedness: 👭People – Check on vulnerable friends, family members, and neighbors. 🐶🐱Pets – Bring pets indoors and make sure they have shelter, food, and fresh water. 🔨Pipes – Insulate pipes and leave water dripping during freezing temperatures. 🪴Plants – Cover outdoor plants or bring them inside.
