Heartbroken to share that our beloved Jonathan, the world's oldest living land animal, has passed away today peacefully on St. Helena. At an estimated 193+ years old, this gentle giant outlived empires, wars, and generations of humans. As his vet for many years, it was an honor to care for him—hand-feeding bananas, watching him bask in the sun, and marveling at his quiet wisdom. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience and longevity that inspired millions. Rest easy, old friend. You'll be missed more than words can say.

@metpoliceuk @DeborahMeaden @therealmissjo Hear Hear. The job of the police is tough enough. Pushing extra resources on to an avoidable event is costly both in staffing and delays to other incidents. Anyone condoning these events or in fact encouraging them should be seriously questioned.

This is not harmless fun. If anyone takes part in or organises disorder, they will face the consequences including arrest. We recognise the concern that this incident will have caused the community in Clapham. We have strong plans in place and are working closely with local partners and businesses. Our officers will remain highly visible across the area, and any disorder, theft or planned meet‑ups will be dealt with robustly.

People are barricaded in shops. Others are unable to get down the street. Why? Because this is the “Clapham youth” in London. They have stormed the high street and are looting shops. Does not seem like anyone is being arrested yet. Instead police stand and watch. You can guarantee that if they were a large group of white kids they would be arrested in minutes. This is not the first time they have done this in the last few days. Their behaviour is feral.
