heathcliff is a racial other and this is central to the emotional and thematic center of wuthering heights, it’s in the very language of the story: nature/culture, dark/light, hell/heaven. the passionate love is predicated upon heathcliff and cathy’s shared otherness. wrap it up.

How Emerald Fennell’s #WutheringHeights movie changes Emily Brontë’s novel: Casting contrasts The casting has been one of the most debated departures from the novel, particularly regarding Heathcliff’s race, which Brontë leaves ambiguous but central to his otherness. In the film, his outsider status centers more on class than race. Robbie’s age as Cathy also raised eyebrows, as the character is a teenager in the book, while the film ages her into her 20s. The Linton family is reimagined as well, with changes to physical descriptions and even Isabella’s role. variety.com/2026/film/news…

How Emerald Fennell’s #WutheringHeights movie changes Emily Brontë’s novel: The film focuses on the first half of the book The movie adapts only the first half of Brontë’s novel, centering exclusively on Cathy and Heathcliff’s romance. The second half, which follows the next generation and Heathcliff’s descent into vengeance after Cathy’s death, is omitted, resulting in a more romantic and less punitive portrayal of his character. variety.com/2026/film/news…

Complete nonsense but lots of fun. Not sure how a Scot is running security at the Embassy though - even if he has dual citizenship. And why did the Defence Secretary plonk himself opposite the MI5 Chief? Plenty of seats on the plane and he sits there. Must be a Tory. #redeye

#RedEye confirmed a lot about disruptive state surveillance capabilities too!#PutAwayYourPhones!#MartinCompston & #JingLusi’s intense interplay & onscreen chemistry were off the chart! The writers tho garner the most impressive accolades. Incisive script, stellar cast, Loved it!

Wow! Finished watching #ITV’s #RedEye last night. One of the most gripping political thrillers I’ve seen in a long time. @ITV is definitely upping its game. It even gives #Homeland a run for its money in terms of plot twist complexities. #MustWatchTV

#RedEye2 While I'm enjoying it, the security gaffs are ridiculous! Didn't they employ a security specialist to advise? Even if they didn't, I could have shot holes in the script and I have no security experience. Very poor!

#RedEye2 Full of glaring security gaffs that even a 5 year old would notice! If this is typical security in UK no wonder the country is stuffed!

I know @martin_compston is brilliant in everything he does but I really think Clay Brody in #RedEye2 might be up there as one of his best performances
