@macstronach @kattyponder @BC_Scotland @savebutterflies @BritishMoths @Britnatureguide @BuglifeScotland @EdinburghNats As @kattyponder says CMRs have been fantastic and have provided records to end of 2022 and then informed us of over 200 records for 2023 that are of significance for distribution including those new to Scotland this year.

Trapping at Dalmahoy Hill last night produced a first for Midlothian, at least 30km from nearest record, of Striped Twin-spot Carpet! Also over a hundred Confused, increasing county total over five-fold.

Having been incubating 14 eggs since at least 2nd April this Goosander had the first chicks hatch yesterday in Linlithgow. Wonder how long the other eggs will take as should hatch synchronously. @birdinglothian

A hike on ridges west of Prosen yesterday to seek out a lovely Scottish moth - Rannoch Brindled Beauty. Miles of empty posts, with most moths found in the same sections as last year. A few females were laying in crevices-this one going stripey with the effort!? #MothsMatter

One of the many dams installed on Easter Inch Moss recently, in an attempt to block ditches and 're-wet' the moss.

@hoggestateserv2 @kattyponder Excellent find George, particularly inland. In the modern era there have been 13 records or a total of 17 Dark Spinach since 2011. All on the coast as Katty says.

@kattyponder @hoggestateserv2 @BCeastscotland Nice find, and good prompt for me to get out and look too. Success as well at a new site albeit about 1km from my first adult trapped last year. Feeding on the seed pods rather than flowers interestingly.

Thanks @hoggestateserv2 for the Toadflax tip-off. Found some pug larvae today at the site you recorded East Lothian's first adult moth earlier this year 🙂 They were quite plump - hope there is still time to seek out some new locations this year. #mothsmatter @BCeastscotland

@hoggestateserv2 I wonder if a range expansion or they have been there for a long time. @colindavison62 has recorded them near Musselburgh for some years.

Portland Moth, Brussels Lace, V-moth, Heath Rivulet, Stout Dart and several others. Quite right Ashleigh, her collection is invaluable.
