Today we submitted a pitch to Microsoft and id Software for a full Commander Keen remake powered by NVIDIA DLSS 5. Attached is the concept we sent.

The thing about this one is that it doesn't _have_ to be an April Fool's joke. Obviously it is/was but it doesn't _have_ to be. Square-Enix could actually do this. And they should. I mean, if there's ever gonna be another NieR it's gonna need to one-up Automata somehow.

@Dong_Quixote1 My interest in this derives from it being comics based on Richard Stark's Parker novels, the first of which was the inspiration for Payback (1999) which I rewatched [twice] yesterday. Loved that movie as a kid, but my critical evaluation of it this time through was a lot darker.

@Dong_Quixote1 Only just discovered these myself. Granted, the price is fairly on par for being deeply unreasonable, as TPB prices often are. Still, I'll probably get it. Art looks right decent and Of An Era.

Well, at least on Brave it would seem that the 7TV extension's April Fools joke didn't work. It just broke the chat panel entirely for me. Guess I'm disabling it for today.

the Supreme Court ruled 8-1 that banning the torture of queer children with electroshock therapy and chemicals in the name of god violates the first amendment. this is a place of monsters.

The main thing that sticks out though--and I was posting about this on Bluesky--is how the theatrical cut (which is ostensibly Mel's cut) removes the scene where Porter beats the shit out of his wife. Mel Gibson then went on to beat his actual wife in real life. What an asshole!

Doing a comparative viewing of Payback (1999) and the Payback: Straight Up (2006), which is the director's original cut. I watched the theatrical cut many, many times. Never realized just how different the DC/original cut actually was. It's a stark contrast.
