I have always found the kindest and most understanding people to be the ones who are suffering or have in the past. I think it has to do with the degree of suffering they have experienced. A little suffering makes people hostile, while prolonged suffering breeds compassion. It's common to depict people who suffered greatly as turning into villains ("hurt people hurt people"), but that has not been my experience.

@turtlebreezee Nobody wants the suffering. Hopefully your light can help others out of their own darkness with less struggle. Or give them the courage to dive into the darkness, knowing they will find light on the other side.

@_Pammy_DS_ A life focused on the essentials is the most rewarding. As you get older, the art of life becomes more and more about cutting out the unnecessaries.

The older you get, the more you realize you want a quiet, peaceful life, and the less you want to be around drama, stress or conflict. You just want a calm cozy home, good food on your table, and to be surrounded by your favourite people.

Failure is inevitable when pursuing new things to expand your life. The difficulty is in mentally processing failure correctly as part of the learning process (it's not a 'failure' as such). If you don't do this, you will end up "pushing through" the pain & stress of failure, instead of recognizing it as just one of the steps of the process.

Stop cheating on your future with your past.

The toughest place to make a change from is rock bottom. Your problems have been allowed to spin up to maximum power, and they has eroded many of your internal resources. From this position, if you want to get better, you need to climb out of what seems like a bottomless pit. The obvious point to make here is to avoid a situation like this from occurring in the first place, but the mindset to be adopted is the same whether you are already at rock-bottom or trying to avoid it: Be proactive in dealing with problems. Regularly evaluate areas of your life to spot troubling developments. Once recognized, take decisive action; let nothing fester. There are more steps needed to solve problems, but the most difficult is to adopt a proactive behavior that doesn't hesitate in tackling them. If you can master this, everything else will follow.

@Liminal1988 Even if you are unable to use the 'softness' for anything in the world, you know you would never want to give it up. It feels good to view the world that way — with softness & kindness rather than sharp-edged judgement.

@thechrisson Suffering seems to say that you have suffered serious injury and that life will now be less than it could have been. That's the mind's faulty pain-driven interpretation. Suffering is just pointing out something to be fixed so that things can be better than ever before.

Suffering is an illusion. The Buddhist would say: - Most of our problems are created in our heads. The Stoics would say: - We can view circumstances as neither good nor bad—objectively. I would say: - Reframe your suffering as healing.

@thechrisson There is nothing more worthwhile than growing our connection with people we genuinely like. Being surrounded by people like that is what makes life truly enjoyable, instead of just bearable.

We often take others for granted. Today they may stay - Tomorrow they may leave. Bottom Line: Cherish your people. Every. Day.

The best revenge is none. Heal and move on with your life so you don’t become like the people who traumatized you.

One reason many people are poor at listening to their bodies is that they lack a connection with it. Spend some time throughout the day tuning into the body and you will be surprised at how often it has something to say about what's going on. Another reason for avoiding the body is that painful sensations and emotions are stored there. People avoid the body because of the pain that's there already, allowing additional suffering to sink inn. Release the pent-up pain and you will experience a wonderful ease in your body, making the body a safe place to rest again.

Your body knows - always trust it. You'll become anxious or repelled when you feel bad energy, bullsh*t, weird vibes, and sneaky sh*t. Don't say "yes" when your body says "no". Listening to your body and honoring what it says is the ultimate form of self-care.
