공개된 사진엔 담배를 손에 쥐고 지인들과 웃고 떠들고 있는 RM의 해맑은 순간이 담겨 있었다. 매체에 따르면 RM이 방문한 술집 건물엔 따로 흡연 구역이 존재하지 않았다.
매체가 공개한 또 다른 사진 속에는 무릎을 꿇고 바닥을 청소하고 있는 직원의 모습이 담겨 안타까움을 자아냈다. 한국에서도 실내 흡연은 엄격히 금지되기에 RM이 이를 몰랐을 리가 만무.
하나 방탄소년단의 RM은 'K-팝을 대표하는 아티스트' '월드 스타'라는 타이틀을 달고도 공공장소에서, 심지어 행실을 보다 조심했어야 할 외국에서 상식과는 벗어나는 행동을 해 실망감을 선사하고 있는 중이다.
논란에 대한 소속사 빅히트의 대처도 아쉽다. 소식이 처음 전해졌을 당시, 빅히트 관계자가 iMBC연예에 건넨 입장은 사태에 대한 사과가 아닌, "사태를 인지하고 있으나, 파파라치 매체가 찍은 사진이라는 점에서 국내에서는 기사화하지 않는 걸로 부탁하고 있다. 문의하신 모든 매체에 같은 입장으로 대응하고 있다"라는 모호한 입장에 불과했다.
