An uneasy 185-mile drive along California’s fresh produce belt w/ <40% of US veggies,<90% of fruit & ALL almonds coming from here. From that soil, that was baking in the sun & blowing over the highway… all while the useable water is running out & urban-rural tension grows. #gulp

Trying to catch up with my @NuffieldFarming UK mini tour visit updates. Went out my comfort zone yesterday and visited Kingsbeck dairy. I now know a little more about dairying, and had my preconceptions challenged as to how dairy cow beef might eat. Thank you @MccoshJon

@KrisMBarnard Awesome rating, great story, and obviously great accommodation... this might sound counter intuitive, but have you tried putting your prices up instead?

As you can see, we’ve dropped the price to encourage bookings, no dice. Last year we were running $195 weekdays $265 Friday and Saturday nights. In addition, we’ve had more guests that are not within the realm of normal Airbnb guests…

@clintwfischer Suggest it's worth adding that the off farm experience needs to include working in another industry and then coming back to farming in a different agricultural system

Family farm management topic we discussed last night: 3 things the next gen needs before working in the operation. → 2+ years of off-farm experience → Learned skills that help the farm → Know they're able to be hired & fired (no entitlement) Because, the farm is a business.
