Hey everyone! Bit of a different post compared to usual but there's some things I feel like saying so bear with me! Sorry if this is oversharing. As I navigate my day to day life I scarcely find time to stop and think about who I am. I've had confusing moments and feelings that I had to shove in the back of my head because I simply didn't have the mental capacity or time between all of the troubles and obligations that have been thrown my way. I've had a bit more time lately — to unpack some of this stuff I had in the back of my mind, and I can confidently come out as pansexual. While my sexuality was easy to figure out, I still have a long way to go about gender. For those who don't know, I'm a cis man and I've always gone by he/him as it's been normalized. There's a nagging thought in my head that I'd have been happier if I was born a woman. This doesn't mean that I will go through and transition — I'm very proud and admirative of my trans friends for being brave enough to go on their own respective journeys, but that's just not me. I don't hate being a man, per se, but I hate what patriarchy has done to what's expected of a man, and by extension, I hate having this stuff projected onto me and who I should be. But I can't really say that I hate "being a man" because the standard for what it really is is wrong in the first place. I can't really gauge what it really means to me if what I've been taught my whole life isn't even correct. On the other hand, I'm a big fan of positive masculinity and I try to uphold this every day. But even then, I don't know if this is what will really make me happy in the long run, or if I need something different altogether. Either way, I have to be introspect and explore things a bit more to really come to a conclusion. Pronouns don't make me uncomfortable, so call me anything you think fits. Nothing really changes.
