Had an amazing night tonight reconnecting with some old friends, but I keep kicking myself because I mispronounced the word perpetuity. Absolutely no one called me on it, but it's gonna bug me for years.

@AcademicFoxhole You care about the fun of the people at your table. That is not true of all GMs and I feel it is objectively good.

I think my thoughts about this are colored by seeing way too many "One True Way"-ist takes on what makes a GM good or bad. Everything I've seen tells me that there is no such thing as an objective or universally good GM. There is good for you or good for me, but not just "good."

I'm a relativist on this. I don't feel comfortable claiming to be good at anything as a GM. Why not? Because what is good for some players would be bad for others. What I value as a GM might be something players don't care about at all...or actively dislike.

He goes on to say that paying people for YouTube content feels icky to him. I wonder how he compensates his staff. I’m not a YR game reviewer so it doesn’t really affect me, but the notion that content creation isn’t work really pisses me off. It is. It’s a lot of work.

That said, I have and do accept items in exchange for reviews or promotional posts. I *always* disclose if it was a freebie, because I feel like that’s the honest thing to do. (Also, it’s the law.) But my reviews are 100% honest and forthright. My integrity isn’t for sale.
