Nobody in this country is having an honest conversation about how badly things have fallen apart. Three years. That’s all it took. Petrol that was ₦200 is now ₦1,400. A crate of eggs jumped from ₦50 to ₦300. Spaghetti? Same story. ₦200 to ₦1,300. Go to the market. A kilo of chicken moved from ₦2,500 to ₦7,500. Turkey? ₦3,500 to ₦11,500. Even eating out punishes you. Rice and chicken that was ₦2,500 now costs ₦7,000. Housing is even worse. Self-contained apartments that went for ₦350k are now ₦1 million. Mini flats jumped from ₦650k to ₦2.5 million. Where exactly are young people supposed to live? Want to fly from Lagos to Abuja? ₦60k became ₦300k+. Federal university fees moved from ₦30k to over ₦150k. So even education is becoming a luxury. And this is just the first term. The man is already angling for another four years. The scary part? Most people won’t fully process how much damage has been done until they’re in their 40s, wondering why life feels so hard despite doing everything “right.” If you see all of this and still think things are fine, I genuinely don’t know what to tell you.
