@ezsmith397 Oh man, date and time timezone discrepancies especially when using ACF fields is the worst. Best of luck with it all. Do you end up declaring the timezone just manually in your code or developing other work arounds…

Morning brain twister... Working on conditional things to display on Bricks event page template based on ACF date & time fields, using hour & minute for when tickets go on sale... Demoing and debugging in Central time, site & client is in Eastern time. Fun stuff

@hookturn_io’s simple json encoding of repeaters in columns in DB tables made it easy to search and update them. I remember how excited I was that their plug-in was getting repeater support, and here’s yet another use case of why it’s amazing for large sets of custom field data

Ran into performance challenges with too many @wp_acf repeater rows (easily over 1,000 rows a post), fortunately the ACF Database Tables plug-in from @hookturn_io was pushing the data into a separate DB tableso I ended up directly querying & updating via $wpdb. All worked great!

@PhillyD you should really take a look at the current drama unfolding within the Wordpress community. An unhinged CEO, claims flying left and right with plug-in takeovers, lawsuits, and uncertainty for devs, & at the heart of it a CMS that runs over 60% of sites on the internet

ICYMI, #WordPress dot org has forcibly taken control of our Advanced Custom Fields (@wp_acf) plugin and renamed it without our consent. We are committed to further developing the ACF plugin through our website, ensuring users receive new features and maintenance updates. 😎

As a dev for almost twenty years. I’m shocked at the outrageous situation that @wpengine finds themselves in. It sucks. But I feel as though I’m in the majority of WP web devs that will be continuing to back and support @wp_acf. We’re with you all.

@richtabor Starts of sections or sometimes specific divs dynamically added to the page. Just easier to integrate with the scroll jQuery to get positioning right, especially if you have fixed header

@sonam_murarkar I’d probably go “while” even though I think that “for” is a tad more predictable, but often when I’d be using “for” it is being used in the context of arrays, in which case I just go “foreach” instead.

As a coder, do you prefer For loop or While loop?

@BrettFromDJ That work / life balance is such a fine line when you’re WFH and have small kids. We’ve got two toddlers and I’m WFH, no child care, and my wife works part-time too, so we’ve had to do the same in terms of scheduling in “us” time, otherwise it falls to the wayside causing tension

My wife and I have a goal to go on one date a week. It doesn't seem like much, but with three small kids and a business to run, it's everything to us. Insanely rejuvenating. Highly recommend.

@mishterkurth Wait, people do this? Why? CMS is CMS you’re not fooling anyone that it’s not Wordpress. That’s just bonkers to me. Like, I’ll take a random font change here or there by accident, but not intentionally reskinning. That’s wild!

Why people choose to re-skin the entire WordPress admin is lost on me. I understand the desire to make things look nice unique, but it just feels like a whole bunch of problems waiting to happen on any update.

Today was migrations, resolving API errors, and adding humorous dummy content Easter eggs as blurred out text for non-subscribers.

@OngDevLab For context he was looking over my shoulder at some Flash work I was doing, and had designed an interface but also done some clever programming to make it feel even more immersive. Started work in web design a year later & have been at it ever since. Lasted longer than Flash 😂

It’s one thing to see content in a simple list, it’s another to be able to visualise it in the context of a world. The advantage of being both a designer & developer is the ability to think out of the box and actually be able to take it from concept to reality. Excited for this
