⚡🇹🇷🇫🇷🇨🇾 Eastern Mediterranean on edge: France Turkey clash deepens after Cyprus military deal sparks “harsh response” warning France has signed a Status of Forces Agreement with Cyprus, expanding military cooperation and granting French forces access to facilities on the island, a move Turkey says violates the 1960 Cyprus treaties. Ankara has issued a sharp warning of a “harsh response,” escalating tensions in one of Europe’s most sensitive flashpoints. The agreement further deepens France’s military footprint in a region already marked by rivalry and strategic competition. Source: Anadolu Agency / Neos Kosmos

Greece was not institutionally governed by "Albania"; however, the military/administrative elite that controlled, governed, and collected taxes in the region on behalf of the Ottomans were predominantly Muslim Albanians. On the other hand, Christian Albanians (Arvanites) played a leading role in the process of the establishment of present-day Greece after its separation from the Ottoman Empire. In short, the Albanian mark on the history of the Greek geography is very deep.

Cyprus on paper: South 59%, North 36%. Cyprus in reality (flat, habitable land): Nearly 50-50! 🗺️ Due to the massive Troodos mountains in the South, North Cyprus (TRNC) holds a disproportionately high share of the island's flat plains (Mesaoria). Geography rewrites the map! Although South Cyprus appears to have almost twice the land area of the North on the political map, when it comes to the calculation of "flat land suitable for settlement and agriculture," the net amount of available land on both sides is quite close due to the Troodos Mountains factor (around 2,900 km² versus 2,400 km²). #Cyprus #Geopolitics #Maps #UrbanPlanning

Modern day Greeks are just Indians. Balkan Mahala Dances: In Greece, Bulgaria, and North Macedonia, Roma communities developed highly expressive, communal celebration dances tied to local brass music, while retaining the rapid upper-body and arm flourishes of their South Asian origins. Mahala dances are highly similar to modern Greek dances, because they helped shape the popular social dances performed across Greece today. The term Mahala (originally an Ottoman Turkish word meaning "neighborhood") refers to the distinct, vibrant Romani neighborhoods found throughout the Balkans and Greece. The dances originating from these communities are deeply woven into the fabric of modern Greek nightlife, weddings, and festivals. The Tsifteteli (Greek Belly Dance): The most direct connection is found in the Tsifteteli (τσιφτετέλι), which is the most popular social dance in modern Greek clubs and celebrations today. While it has Ottoman roots, the modern Greek version was heavily stylized and popularized by Greek Roma musicians and dancers in the Mahala districts. The Modern Hasapiko / Syrtaki: In the urban pan-Greek music style known as Laiko or Rebetiko, the line dances performed today by everyday Greeks heavily incorporate the fluid hip movements and fast, joyful footwork pioneered in Romani neighborhood celebrations. --- It's time for modern day Greeks to accept their gypsy Indian heritage and stop thinking you share anything with ancient Greece.

According to the Treaty of London, no military force other than the guarantor powers can be brought to the island of Cyprus. The guarantor powers have the right to prevent this...

On July 15, 1974, the EOKA-B organization, supported by the Greek junta, staged a military coup in Cyprus, overthrowing President Makarios. He was replaced by the fascist Nikos Samson, known for his massacres of Turks, and the "Greek Republic of Cyprus" was declared. The aim was to immediately annex the island to Greece. Makarios asked the guarantor countries to suppress the coup and restore peace to the island... In response, Turkey launched a military operation, Makarios returned to power, the island was divided in two, and a population exchange took place. Turks settled in the north, and Greeks in the south... After some time, the Turks declared their own state in the territories they governed.

Genuine question, is Cyprus going to just allow Turkey occupy its entire north for another 50+ years? If that was Cyprus or Greece occupying Turkey, they’d be at war everyday until they get it back. Cypriots, when are you going to get your country back?

@Ahmedpak378456 Of course we haven't heard anything about it because Cyprus has been peaceful for over 50 years. By contrast, tens of thousands of people have been slaughtered in Gaza over the past 2½ years. Unlike stateless Palestinians, residents in Nth Cyprus can acquire Cypriot citizenship.

In 1974 Turkey invaded Cyprus and took possession of 37% of the country, gradually displacing 200,000 Greek Cypriots. There has since been an influx of Turkish settlers from the mainland, with as many as 500,000 Turks displacing the natives. How many times have we heard people talking about illegal Turkish settlers/colonizers? Almost never. Most people don’t even know about it.

Mehmed II minted coins calling himself Roman/Byzantine emperor. On some of his coins and medallions, he used titles like: “Kayser‑i Rûm” (Caesar of Rome) “Imperator of Constantinople” The medallion you uploaded literally says: “MAGNUS SULTANUS MOHAMETH… BIZANTII IMPERATOR 1481” (“Great Sultan Mehmed… Emperor of Byzantium”) Europeans accepted this title Italian medallion-makers, diplomats, and chroniclers used titles like: “Imperator Turcorum et Romanorum” “Emperor of the Greeks and Turks” “Lord of Constantinople” The Patriarchate accepted Mehmed as the new Roman Emperor After 1453, Mehmed II re‑established the Ecumenical Patriarchate and personally appointed: Gennadios Scholarios as Patriarch Gennadios was a strict Orthodox theologian and anti‑Catholic. He accepted Mehmed’s authority and wrote: “God has given him rule over the Romans.” Why many Orthodox Christians accepted Mehmed’s Roman title ✔️ 1. The Roman Empire was defined by Constantinople, not ethnicity Whoever ruled Constantinople was the Roman emperor. This was the medieval understanding. ✔️ 2. Mehmed protected the Orthodox Church He gave them more autonomy than the Catholic West ever did. ✔️ 3. The Church preferred Muslim rule over Catholic domination This is a historical fact. Before 1453, many Orthodox clergy said: “Better the Sultan’s turban than the Cardinal’s hat.” They feared forced Catholicization more than Ottoman rule. --- Mehmed used Byzantine imperial rituals He: Sat on the Byzantine throne Used Byzantine court ceremonies Employed Greek bureaucrats Restored the Senate (as an advisory council) This made him look like a continuation, not a destroyer. --- Instead of destroying the Orthodox Church, he: Re‑established the Patriarchate Appointed Gennadios Scholarios Gave him the staff of office (a Byzantine imperial tradition) Recognized the Patriarch as the leader of the “Roman people” (Millet‑i Rûm) This was a direct continuation of Byzantine imperial practice. The Patriarch was essentially the spiritual counterpart to the emperor. -- Mehmed II didn’t treat the city as a conquered prize — he treated it as his imperial center. He: Rebuilt the walls Restored aqueducts Repaired Hagia Sophia Reorganized the city into Byzantine-style districts Brought back Greek families to repopulate the capital He even had Greek scholars translate: Roman histories Greek classics Byzantine chronicles He wanted to understand and inherit the Roman tradition intellectually.

Kim barbar, kim medeni?
