The most powerful countries in the world, such as the US, UK, and France, are currently evacuating their nationals from Sudan through the Red Sea.  It's heartening to see that human safety is being given utmost importance, especially during times of war. However, this should also serve as a wake-up call to the same Western countries who often question why people from war-torn countries take dangerous and risky journeys through the desert or board unsafe boats from countries like Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Syria or Ethiopia.

This month in the US, people were shot for ringing the wrong doorbell, getting into the wrong car, using a leaf blower, delivering food to the wrong address, driving into the wrong driveway, and for asking a neighbor to stop shooting so a baby could sleep. It’s the fucking guns.

This clip of Sky's @YousraElbagir finding her uncle in a crowd of Sudanese evacuees brought tears to my eyes. Reporting this kind of story is really tough, and even tougher when there's a personal connection. Yousra & @vauldicarelse's coverage has been brilliant.
