@OOCcommunism @RedFrontTweeter Kirill Romanov, who survived, really supported Germany.

@Minor_29 @astraiaintel I cannot tell you anything other than to look at the source material. It was very clearly happening.

The Russians are in no position to make comments on the subject.
Operation Ichi-Go was executed while the Japanese were outmanned 5 to 1 by the Chinese, and unlike the Russians in Ukraine they were actually able to advance and join the Northern and Southern Fronts into one.

Japanese Infantry was the best in the world if you overlook them losing in essentially every situation where they weren’t fighting Chinese conscripts, and yes their Navy “ruled the pacific” until it got blown up six months into the war. Other than that, yes. Sure.

@makimamuse @astraiaintel These plans for retreat remained plans, because the organized retreat did not have time to begin.
English

@Perpea1411 @FestungKonrad @astraiaintel Soviet army had to travel hundreds of kilometers through difficult terrain in order to dissect and destroy the Kwantung Army. For example, the Great Khingan Ridge, was passed by Soviet tanks in a few days.
This operation was the highest point of the Soviet maneuver war.
English

@Minor_29 @FestungKonrad @astraiaintel Brother come on, you guys defeated Germany all by yourself. But in Manchuria? There is nothing to brag about. Soviets had 15x more tanks, 3x operational aircraft, and probably around 20x more artillery. And infantry? Jap ones were underequipped to the ww1 ass point
English

@makimamuse @astraiaintel And Soviet intelligence not only did not report the weakening of the Kwantung Army (was it weakening?), on the contrary, Soviet intelligence, and consequently the command, overestimated the forces of Japan.

English

@Minor_29 @astraiaintel Japan's response to August Storm was deliberate, they wanted to let the Soviets attain land so that they can check American ambitions in Northeast Asia

English

@makimamuse @astraiaintel Japan had fortifications in Manchuria, and quite a few, for example Mishansky fortified area, torn by the Red Army by August 12.
As for the retreat, it at least failed because the Kwantung army was destroyed. Is there an example of the implementation of this retreat?

English

@Minor_29 @astraiaintel To answer your second tweet: The Korean border isn't where you build fortresses if you're trying to defend Manchuria from Soviet invasion. Instead, they're pulling back to position themselves between Soviet and American zones of influence. It's blatantly protracted withdrawal.

English

@makimamuse @astraiaintel And then why did the Japanese build fortifications in Manchuria, strengthen the Kwantung army with new divisions and create defensive plans?
English

@makimamuse @astraiaintel Perhaps Japan's desire to make peace after the Soviet offensive in Manchuria is due to the fact that the Soviet army defeated a 700,000-strong group of Japanese troops and captured a Japanese resource base in China.
English

@Sangeli7 @astraiaintel In which the USSR defeated Japan at Khalkhin Gol?
English

@Minor_29 @astraiaintel Red Army in 1945 was absolutely beast mode though. Not even close to a fair fight. 1939 Japanese/Soviet fighting is a much better argument.
English

@isfjmocha China's attack on Japan is impossible because it is protected by the American army.
English

@FestungKonrad @astraiaintel Did the Japanese have a lot of modern anti-tank weapons in WW2?
Anyway, defeat of a large Japanese group in a short period of time and with few losses more the result of Soviet planning than the weaknesses of the Japanese army.
And thanks for the new book.
English

@Minor_29 @astraiaintel Read David Glantz’s “August Storm” - you will see just how inadequate the local Kwangtung divisions were against the RKKA. They had very little in the way of modern anti tank weaponry, were almost entirely foot/horse bound (including the heavy weapons).

English

@FestungKonrad @astraiaintel New units were also sent to reinforce the Kwantung Army, such as the 130th Series division.
By the way, the size of the Kwantung Army was approximately equal to the size of the entire Japanese expeditionary army in China and three times the number of Japanese troops in Indonesia

English

@astraiaintel There was a million-strong Kwantung army in Manchuria (it was defeated in a few days). I think a military expert could at least read Wikipedia, lmao.

@Minor_29 Celebrating taking fields while their entire army was in China 🤡🤡
