Graffiti is not art when it’s done on someone else’s property. It’s a crime. Vandalism and graffiti are arrestable offenses. If you see someone vandalizing property, call Miramar Police and help keep our community clean and safe. #MiramarPD #ServingOurCommunity

OFFICER SCOTT M. ALVINO End of Watch: March 19, 1982 Officer Alvino tragically lost his life on his way to work when his vehicle crashed into a canal during dense fog. He was young, well-liked, and deeply dedicated to serving his community. Though his time was short, his spirit of service remains a lasting reminder of the risks our officers face—sometimes even before their shift begins.

Most vehicle burglaries happen because of opportunity. Let’s take that away. Use an extra minute before leaving your vehicle to check that valuables are removed or out of sight. Lock your doors and make sure windows are fully closed. 🚗🔒 If you see something or someone suspicious in your neighborhood, trust your instincts and call us right away. Your awareness helps keep our community safe. ☎️ #MiramarPD #LockItOrHideIt #SeeSomethingSaySomething #CommunitySafety #CrimePrevention

Spring Break means more family time and often, more little passengers in the backseat. 💙 As routines change, take an extra moment before you leave your vehicle: 👀 Check the backseat 🔑 Take your keys 🚫 Never leave a child unattended in the car—not even for a minute Temperatures can rise quickly, and what feels like a short stop can turn into a dangerous situation. Parents and caregivers, this is our reminder to be intentional, stay alert, and protect what matters most. From all of us at the Miramar Police Department: your child’s safety starts with small, mindful actions. #MiramarPD #ChildSafety #SpringBreakSafety #LookBeforeYouLock #HotCarPrevention #ProtectOurKids #CommunityFirst

Spring Break is a time to relax, recharge, and enjoy but your safety should always come first. 💙 If your plans include celebrating, make the smart choice before you go out: designate a driver or use a rideshare. One decision can make all the difference for you, your friends, and everyone on the road. At the Miramar Police Department, we want you to enjoy the moments and make it home safely to the people who matter most. Let’s look out for one another, stay alert, and choose responsibility over regret. Have fun. Be safe. Get home. 🙏🏽 #MiramarPD #SpringBreakSafety #DriveSober #DesignatedDriver #RideSafe #CommunityFirst #StaySafe

Congratulations to Chief Delrish Moss on his induction into the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County Hall of Fame this weekend! Chief Moss’ connection to Big Brothers Big Sisters is personal. He was once a child participating in the mentorship program. Recognizing the impact of mentorship, Chief Moss brought the program to the Miramar Police Department, creating opportunities for our officers and staff to serve as mentors for local youth. In the words of Chief Moss, “It’s a great way to plant seeds that grow good harvest in terms of kids being able to see their future in mentors.” #MiramarPD

Miramar Police Department earns top honors again. On Thursday, February 19, 2026, Chief D. Moss, Deputy Chief S. Bucknor-Ingram, and Accreditation Manager S. Lerouge accepted CFA’s Excelsior Status—the highest level of Florida law enforcement accreditation, in St. Augustine, Florida. This milestone follows CALEA reaffirmation in September 2025, marking MPD’s rare achievement of dual accreditation at both the state and national levels. Dual accreditation reflects unwavering commitment to accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in service to the Miramar community. #MiramarPD #CFA #CALEA #PublicSafety #Accreditation #CommunityFirst #Police

Today, Miramar Police officers brought holiday cheer to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, spreading smiles with toys, Santa, and elves. 🎅🎁 This 16-year tradition is inspired by Detective Villanona, whose loss of his child became a lasting legacy of love and service. Thank you to the incredible JDCH staff. Merry Christmas & a prosperous 2026. 💙🎄 #MiramarPD #JDCH #SeasonOfGiving
