This afternoon at Urugwiro Village, President Kagame received Dr Sania Nishtar, Chief Executive Officer of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and her delegation. Discussions focused on ongoing cooperation to strengthen immunization systems, improve public health outcomes, and expand equitable access to life-saving vaccines.

President Kagame also met with Prof Mohamed Yakub Janabi, @WHO Regional Director for Africa, and Dr Brian Chirombo, WHO Representative to Rwanda, for a discussion on strengthening collaboration to advance health security and resilient health systems in Rwanda and across the region.

This afternoon at Urugwiro Village, President Kagame received a delegation led by HRH Prince Oheneba Yaw Otchere, Royal Ambassador of His Majesty the Asantehene of the Asante Kingdom, Ghana. Discussions centered on strengthening ties between Rwanda and the Ashanti Kingdom, with a particular focus on expanding opportunities in trade, investment and mineral trading.

This evening at Le Palais du Peuple in Brazzaville, President Kagame met with President-Elect @SassouNGuesso_ ahead of his inauguration tomorrow. 🕯️ ‘Kwibuka’ means ‘to remember’. Today we mark the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

President Kagame also met with Prof. Chaloka Beyani, UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide to the Secretary-General, on the sidelines of the national #Kwibuka32 remembrance activities. Their discussions focused on the collective responsibility of the international community in identifying and responding to early warning signs of genocide, drawing on the lessons of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

This afternoon at Urugwiro Village, President Kagame received Hon. @AmbDaniDayan, Chairperson of @yadvashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem. Hon. Dayan is in Kigali to participate in the national #Kwibuka32 Remembrance Ceremony and the International Conference on Genocide Prevention. Their discussion centered on the power of commemoration in rebuilding and unifying nations after genocide, and its critical role in combating genocide denial.

Today, I joined a commemoration in London honouring the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. It was a moment to remember more than one million innocent lives lost, and to stand in solidarity with survivors whose courage continues to inspire us all.
