Where did I advocate spending lots of time on past trauma? Psychodynamic therapy is effective and works quickly. Talking therapies and dwelling on the past can do more harm than good, I agree. I don't understand why this is the method of choice in the mental health space when there are better options.

Quite often, with the exception of assistance in creating witness testimony for law enforcement as the appropriately intended and qualified helper... Spending too much time on past trauma becomes voyeuristic slips for the doctor and spirals harm. Tools and skill set building #Job

Because talking to patients about their traumatic history and applying psychology isn't enough and may actually cure them - better to drug them to justify your PhD. 10m in England on antidepressants with no evidence SSRIs are effective - and may permanently kill off your libido as a nice little side effect. How many intimate relationships survive if you don't want sex? It's no wonder their patients rarely recover. The profession is an utter disgrace.

Dinner with psychiatrists last night. "Psychiatry has a curious habit of giving awkward, unwieldy names to a cluster of symptoms and then pretending to understand said syndromes and how to treat them. A whole encyclopedia of Just So Stories gets created around these syndromes that ends up sounding a lot like How the Zebra Got Its Stripes."
