From day one, improving public safety has been the top priority of our administration and the response of communities, large and small, across our state to the Blue Shield program shows that Missourians want to have safer streets and support law enforcement. Blue Shield communities are now able to apply for funding through @MoPublicSafety to further bolster public safety with $10 million in grants for training, equipment, and technology. Extremely impressed by the Gateway Regional Criminal Interdiction Task Force's coordinated operations on June 11 that yielded 4 stolen vehicles, 2 recovered firearms, 6 felony drug offenses, 31 cleared warrants and 25 arrests, including 13 felony arrests! Collaboration is key!

Hazardous heat continues today with heat indices near or above 100° across the area. A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 7 PM today. Strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon into the evening mainly for northwestern MO.

Today, I called legislators back to Jefferson City on Monday, June 2, for a Special Session. We are proud of all the General Assembly accomplished during the regular legislative session, but there is still work left to be done. We hope the General Assembly will use this opportunity to provide resources to families affected by recent severe storm systems, drive economic development through a tax incentive program, and make critical budget appropriations that will impact Missourians across the state.
