This development uses the Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard for trustless asset transfers across more than 150 different chains, building on a previous integration with the IOTA EVM in September 2024. Key Details Omnichain Access: The integration connects the IOTA Mainnet with the broader crypto ecosystem, opening doors to a wide range of decentralized finance (DeFi), real-world assets (RWA) tokenization, and global liquidity opportunities. Technology: The move leverages LayerZero's omnichain protocol for secure messaging and Stargate Finance's interface for asset transfers, which helps reduce asset fragmentation and boost liquidity across networks. Ecosystem Expansion: This is considered a "transformative milestone" by IOTA co-founder Dominik Schiener, as it allows developers to build multichain applications and enables IOTA to become a critical backbone for global trade and supply chain finance. Availability: Uphold listed @iota for U.S. customers on the same day as the mainnet integration was announced.
