Rangoli doesn’t get a single moment of freedom. Will you help her? For her entire 51-year life, Rangoli has suffered for the entertainment of tourists. She was born at UNESCO World Heritage site, Amer Fort, into a life of pain, captivity, and cruelty. Rangoli is forced to carry tourists on her back walking up and down the hard cobblestone roads to the top of the hill during the day – often in extreme heat. Only to then spend her nights standing in her own faeces, while chained when she ‘rests’. Rangoli deserves better. By donating today, you can help end elephant rides at Amer Fort so we can begin the process of safely retiring her and all 82 elephants who are suffering. Donate Now: worldanimalprotection.org.in/support-us/don… #DonateToProtectAnimals #animallove #fundraising #EndtheElephantRides #saveelephants #donation #charity #help #nonprofit #makeadifference #community #socialgood

🐻 On #WorldBearDay (March 23), we stand for the conservation, rescue, and protection of all 8 bear species across the globe. Bears are vital to our ecosystems — true keystone species. Yet, they continue to face severe threats like habitat loss, poaching, wildlife trade, and climate change. They are exploited for bile, hunted for body parts, and even captured for private collections. In India, a major victory was achieved when organizations like World Animal Protection helped end the cruel practice of sloth bear dancing — a reminder that change is possible when we act together. Sloth bears, found in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, still face challenges today. Many bears in captivity suffer deeply, often showing distress through repetitive, unnatural behaviors. Because the truth is simple: Bears, like all wild animals, belong in the wild. World Animal Protection continues to work towards a future where bears are protected and free — where they truly belong. 🌍 Be part of the change. 👉 Learn more, spread awareness, and take action. #WorldBearDay #ProtectBears #WildlifeBelongsInTheWild #EndWildlifeExploitation #WorldAnimalProtection

In view of the recent tragic incident of a young veterinarian named Dr Sameeksha Reddy being killed by a hippopotamus in Shimoga Lion And Tiger Safari in Karnataka, World Animal Protection has written to the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry Of Environment And Forests and Central Zoo Authority to do an immediate and urgent due diligence review of all safety protocols surrounding the management of large and potentially lethal animals in zoos and captive facilities. World Animal Protection has also drawn attention to the risks faced riders and mahouts from possible instances of aggression of captive elephants at Amer Fort in Jaipur. Despite this tragedy and the need for all safety measures to be instituted and implemented in all zoos across India and beyond, wildlife belongs in the wild. Hippos belong in the wild. House sparrow populations have declined by up to 60% in many urban areas over the last few decades. Once one of the most common birds around homes and streets, sparrows are disappearing due to habitat loss, lack of nesting spaces, air pollution, and declining insect populations caused by pesticide use. Protecting even the smallest species requires conscious changes in how cities are designed and how nature is treated. 🌐 worldanimalprotection.org.in #WorldSparrowDay #ProtectUrbanWildlife #BirdConservation #WorldAnimalProtectionIndia #BiodiversityMatters

Research shows that 65% of mahouts in riding camps regularly rely on bull-hooks or sharp sticks to maintain control. Direct tourist contact, performances, and elephant riding create environments where force becomes routine. In contrast, elephant-friendly venues remove the need for such tools except in real emergencies. Tourists are not in physical contact with elephants. Instead, they quietly observe as elephants graze, bathe in mud, socialise, and move freely under trained supervision.Mahouts play a crucial role in elephant welfare. When supported with ethical tourism models and proper training, their work shifts from control-based management to compassionate care. Choosing higher-welfare venues helps protect both elephants and the people who work with them. 📍Donate us and be part of the change: worldanimalprotection.org.in/support-us/don… #ElephantProtection #ResponsibleTourism #EndCruelty #WorldAnimalProtectionIndia #ChooseCompassion

Research estimates that over 200,000 pangolins are poached every year, making them more heavily trafficked than elephants, rhinos, or tigers. Once captured, pangolins rarely survive long due to extreme stress and specialised dietary needs, making rescue and rehabilitation extremely challenging. Despite being protected under the highest legal frameworks, seizures of pangolin scales continue to be reported, revealing the scale of illegal trafficking networks. Conservation efforts must prioritise prevention, enforcement, and demand reduction rather than reactive responses. Pangolins cannot withstand continued exploitation. 📍Join our mission: worldanimalprotection.org.in/support-us/don… #SavePangolins #StopPoaching #EndIllegalWildlifeTrade #BiodiversityProtection #WorldAnimalProtectionIndia

Pigs raised for meat are typically slaughtered at just 5–6 months old, despite having a natural lifespan of over 10 years. During that short life, many experience chronic stress, overcrowding, and poor living conditions built into industrial farming models. Reducing meat consumption challenges a system designed around volume, not wellbeing. Choosing fewer meat-based meals helps lower suffering and encourages food practices that respect animals and ecosystems. Progress begins when we question what’s considered normal — and decide it can be better. 📍Pledge to eat less meat: worldanimalprotection.org.in/our-campaigns/… #EatLessMeat #EndAnimalCruelty #RethinkYourPlate #WorldAnimalProtectionIndia #FoodSystemReform

You see an elephant dressed in red — a symbol of culture and celebration. But what you don’t see is the pain behind her gentle eyes. You don’t see the years of training, the loss of her family, or the endless days standing on hard ground, far from the forests she once knew. This is not tradition; it’s exploitation wrapped in color. Elephants are wild beings, not props for human pride. True respect for these incredible animals means letting them live freely, without chains, without performance. Let’s choose compassion over custom and build a world where elephants are admired — not adorned, not enslaved, but allowed to simply be 🙌 Join us to stop elephant abuse today - worldanimalprotection.org.in/our-campaigns/… #ElephantLabour #AnimalCruelty #EndWildlifeExploitation #CompassionForAnimals #WorldAnimalProtection

Studies show that many Holi colours sold in markets contain toxic substances and heavy metals, which can cause allergic reactions and long-term health effects. Animals exposed to these chemicals may suffer skin inflammation, eye injuries, and internal toxicity if ingested. Stray animals are particularly vulnerable because they cannot escape crowded streets or wash off harmful substances. A few moments of celebration can mean days of suffering for them. Festivals should bring joy — not distress. This Holi, choose compassion alongside colour.Happy Holi! 📍Help create a cruelty-free tomorrow: worldanimalprotection.org.in/support-us/don… #HoliSafety #ProtectStrayAnimals #WorldAnimalProtectionIndia #KindCelebration #AnimalWelfare

Wildlife populations have declined by an average of 69% since 1970, according to the Living Planet Report. Habitat loss, illegal trade, climate change, and human–wildlife conflict continue to push species toward extinction at an alarming rate. From large carnivores to lesser-known species, wildlife loss signals deeper damage to ecosystems that support food security, climate stability, and livelihoods. Protecting wildlife is not just about saving individual species — it’s about safeguarding the natural systems that humans depend on. Conservation efforts must prioritise habitat protection, law enforcement, and coexistence-based solutions that allow wildlife to survive alongside people. World Wildlife Day is a reminder that protecting nature is no longer optional — it’s urgent. 📍Sign up - worldanimalprotection.org.in/support-us/new… #WorldWildlifeDay #ProtectWildlife #BiodiversityMatters #WorldAnimalProtectionIndia #KeepWildlifeWild

More than 1.5 billion pigs are slaughtered globally every year for food. The vast majority are raised in intensive farming systems where animals are confined in small spaces, often unable to turn around or express natural behaviours. Scientific studies consistently show that pigs are highly intelligent and social animals — comparable to dogs in cognitive ability — yet they spend their lives in conditions that cause chronic stress and physical harm. Reducing meat consumption directly lowers demand for these systems. Eating less meat isn’t about giving something up — it’s about choosing food practices that cause less suffering and place less strain on animals, people, and the environment. 📍Small changes on our plates can reduce large-scale harm. worldanimalprotection.org.in/our-campaigns/… #EatLessMeat #EndFactoryFarming #AnimalWelfare #WorldAnimalProtectionIndia #FoodSystemChange #ChooseCompassion

A highly contagious virus is believed to have caused the deaths of 72 captive tigers in Chiangmai in northern Thailand this month, with officials racing to contain the outbreak. World Animal Protection is concerned to hear this and reiterates the stance that Indian tourists should refrain from visiting captive venues in Thailand that abuse animals. All efforts must also be undertaken to ensure optimum health of the animals still remaining in captivity. Wildlife belongs in the wild. Read more 🔗 : bit.ly/4rrdwNH

Pangolins play a vital ecological role by controlling insect populations — a single pangolin can consume up to 70 million ants and termites in a year. Their disappearance threatens natural pest control and ecosystem balance. Illegal trade, habitat loss, and lack of awareness continue to push pangolins toward extinction. While laws exist, effective enforcement and public responsibility remain critical gaps. On World Pangolin Day, the message is simple: myths, markets, and money are driving a species to extinction — and that can be stopped. 📍Get in touch with us: linktr.ee/worldanimalpro… #WorldPangolinDay #ProtectWildlife #PangolinsMatter #EndWildlifeTrafficking #WorldAnimalProtectionIndia
