A8: I am a MS math teacher, but I am going to start do number talks multiple times a week to increase math fluency and number sense. I also gained a lot of games! #elemmathchat
A7: I really like this diagram! Honestly, I tend to assess or accuracy most of the time. That is really all I am grading when I record a score in my grade book, but I am making observations and providing feedback on efficiency and flexibility.
A4: In my school, math fluency is lacking. This has been a topic of conversation amongst my MS math PLC for the last couple of years, but we are finally starting to discuss specific strategies and instructional practices this year in our PLC. #elemmathchat
Q6: I have Ss compare 2 worked examples (1 correct, 1 incorrect) and they have to determine which example is correct. They also have to correct the incorrect example by explaining what was incorrect. #elemmathchat
A3: I teach MS, and I always teach to grade level standards. I will go down to get some prior grade level skills that are essential for grade level content. Fact fluency is always addressed in one of the centers in my classroom. #elemmathchat
A1: I would most likely use the standard algorithm for number two, if any, because to solve number one and number 3 I would make tens and find landmark numbers. #elemmathchat
