While others celebrate Eid and children prepare for their new clothes and happy days, I greet this Eid with unending pain… I carry shrapnel from an explosion that nearly ended my life in my abdomen, and I live each day between pain and fear, without receiving the treatment I urgently need. What's harder than my pain is seeing my children cry because I couldn't provide them with what would bring them joy like other children… no new clothes, no meat, not even a simple feeling of Eid happiness. I stand before them helpless, trying to hide my brokenness and pain, but my heart is burdened with indescribable sorrow. I didn't wish for much from life, only to recover and see my children happy and safe.
