While winter’s hanging on, we’re getting ready for greener days ahead. Applications are now open for EnviroFest 2026, our annual celebration of the environment. Each year, we offer funding and hands-on support to five initiatives that encourage positive environmental action across the island! Outages have occurred across the island for many areas due to a loss of supply of power from Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro. We are working with Hydro to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible to all who are impacted.

February’s near record-breaking snowfall means extra caution is needed. Whether clearing snow or enjoying winter activities, Mind the Line. High snow banks near overhead power lines or substations can bring you dangerously close to serious electrical hazards. Power was restored overnight to the majority of customers impacted by blizzard conditions. 210 customers in the area of Deer Park on the Salmonier Line remain without power as the road is impassable. Our crews will be on site as soon as the area is accessible. We understand the difficulities experienced during outages and thank everyone for their patience. Kudos to our crews, snowplow operators and all first responders who worked through challenging conditions overnight. ❄️💨 We have many crews on the road to restore power wherever possible to the 1700 customers currently experiencing outages. Thanks to the plow operators 🚜 who are also out in these treacherous conditions - we’re sending a special shout out to the operator who helped one of our line trucks after it was stuck in snow in Pouch Cove earlier today.
