Just one round after selecting Joe Flacco, the Ravens once again added to their offense, this time with formidable Rutgers running back Ray Rice.
The play that earned the moniker “Hey diddle diddle, Ray Rice up the middle” is one of the many fond memories he provided over the years.
In his six years in Baltimore, Ray was named to three Pro Bowls, earned two AP All-Pro second-team honors, and became a Super Bowl champion.
Unfortunately, his promising NFL career was cut short by his own actions when footage emerged of a domestic violence incident involving him and his then-fiancée.
Domestic violence is never okay. Rice has since acknowledged his mistake, taken full accountability, undergone counseling, and now works to educate others so they can avoid the same errors.
Now an advocate for change, Ray serves as a junior varsity football coach at the Milford Mill Academy, where he hopes to guide the next generation.
