@JJFilson iirc in some areas (namely the pacific northwest) a few steam locos were retained past the retirement of the rest of their classes for this exact reason

@NJP_Productions A diesel locomotive final drive is electric motors between the wheels. It doesn’t take much water to short these out. Steam locomotives are entirely mechanical &, until enough water puts the fires out & steam pressure is gone, it will still go. Surely it will need more shop time.

It's funny that theyre OK in water (it kind of makes sense if it doesn't go over the grates/certain other parts but still)

@FreakyFrisco31 you insulted me and my interests/hobby for saying essentially "this is cursed". I think its an interesting and frankly quite funny concept, but poorly executed. I have a deep understanding of what this was created to elaborate upon but I am somewhat disappointed by its execution.

@NJP_Productions So? It's MPC, you can pick those coachs up for like 20 bucks a smack on ebay, It was probably someone's first kitbash and you're being rude for no other reason then YOU think it looks bad, i think it looks perfectly fine

@Phone_Bin_Diver @sussyamogu19416 @FreakyFrisco31 i don't think theyre scale as the trucks appeared on the postwar ALCos, I think they just got stock ones because they're cheap ish and drilled holes around the pivot point for the passenger trucks

@KatyRailroad382 uuh 1: 3d printing and a bunch of other tools 2:idk like $80 as I got a base for cheap and built the tender off of an MPC flatcar 3: its maybe a 5/10 as I've built one before and its relatively simple. was originally in the postwar scheme but I decided to revert it to as-built

@ILiteA_FIRE @Jintie_DA_B20 i love how logging practices carried over from ox hauls (quite a few logging railroads were built off old logging trails iirc) and they just decided to lay tracks on top of the old fords. I get it though tbh as theres no reason to fill or build a bridge

@NJP_Productions @Jintie_DA_B20 She still survives today lol, running on water wasn’t uncommon on logging railroads, many wouldn’t build bridges and would just build on creeks, though this picture on N°19 is on the extreme end (here’s a video of Meadow River lumber Co 6 ((Now CSRR Heisler 6)) playing in water)
