Friedman’s Chicagoan, semi-laissez-faire, Ubercapitalism is a main derivative factor (amongst others, obviously) as to why we have the lowest homeownership rate since pre-WW2, a 5-7x home price to annual income ratio against the historical 3x, the highest cost of asset price in history, and the highest inflated dollar value in history.
This is not to blame him at all, or his system necessarily, because it is better than many others.
Just an observation, which has built an opinion, that we need to try something more in the direction of the dirigiste fascistic “third way.”

Smaller major metros such as Nashville, Birmingham, etc are better
Certain European and Argentine cities are also better
Any US city bigger than Nashville generally sucks
