I think there is a significant misunderstanding of what functional neurological disorder means 🚨 This needs more discussion as it affects patients 1. FND does not mean ‘psychiatric’ or a predominant ‘psychological formulation ‘ in the traditional sense- Far from it. 2. Response to psychotherapy does not define FND or functional There is no doubt that patients are affected when functional is used to create a mind-body split and when they are told to have ‘psychotherapy’ - in that sense I agree with you. And I can also see why you assert this. “The term functional neurological disorder conveys a condition in which the primary pathophysiological processes are alterations in functioning of brain networks rather than abnormalities of brain structures.” ( Hallett et al,2022) But in clinical practice both can and often coexist. Thoughts?

We are still recruiting participants for this research project aiming to develop inclusive support for Sikh carers of people with dementia. Anyone with any experience of providing care for a loved one with dementia can take part - you do not have to have been the primary carer🧡
