South African factory workers have protested the dismissal of foreign workers, warning that the move is affecting production and putting their own jobs at risk.
The workers said many industries rely on skilled foreign labour and that there are not enough local workers to replace them.

🇳🇬🇿🇦 JUST IN: Nigeria set to join Ghana as 130 citizens prepare to leave South Africa amid rising xenophobic violence Nigeria is preparing to evacuate its citizens from South Africa next week following fresh xenophobic attacks and the looting of foreign-owned businesses. At least 130 Nigerians have reportedly registered for voluntary repatriation as violence continues to spread across affected areas. The unrest, which began in Bloemfontein, has reportedly extended to Estcourt in KwaZulu-Natal, with mobs targeting businesses owned by foreign nationals. Ghana has already evacuated nearly 300 of its citizens from South Africa and provided support packages for returnees following the recent wave of xenophobic attacks and anti-immigrant unrest. Nigerian authorities say evacuation arrangements are underway amid reports of harassment, assaults on Black African foreigners, and growing tensions linked to immigration and unemployment. More Nigerians are expected to join the repatriation effort as the situation develops.
