The US military is already overstretched. China is the Pentagon’s stated priority. A ground war with Iran would drain resources from the Pacific and leave the US vulnerable elsewhere. The US cannot fight a major war in Iran while containing China and Russia. Iran knows this. They have built their strategy around making the US bleed until it withdraws.
