I'm sick of shallow business principles and tactics - content and offers that maintain a surface level focus on sales, scale, and growth. Profit first, people second. Metrics first, meaning second. Sell first, serve second. It's corrosive and illusionary. It makes people think they're thinking big, when really it's restricting the scope of what they could accomplish and the impact they could create in the world. Now, don't get me wrong - I'm not saying the above isn't important or shouldn't be prioritized. After all, entrepreneurship is the art of business - if you can't sell, scale, and grow, you (by definition) can't be a successful entrepreneur. Here's the way I think about it: When the traditional metrics of success serve as the center of your why, you're building a sand castle - it has form, but no substance. When the traditional metrics of success serve as pillars atop a foundation of purpose, fulfilment, and living in alignment with a higher calling - that's when you truly build something strong and sturdy that can weather any storm. Yes - you should strive to make money, scale your business, and achieve success. But above all else, you must remember that you are a conduit that shapes the direction the world takes. Aim to support those brave enough to pursue a life in alignment with their highest good and greatest benefit. That's what it should mean to be a value creator and entrepreneur.
