STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY A message of hope to Nigerians on Ramadan Ramadan is a time for Muslims to deepen their faith through dawn-to-dusk fasting, prayer, and reflection, fostering self-discipline, compassion, and gratitude while strengthening their connection with God. But beyond that, Eid, being the last day of the Ramadan is a time for forgiveness, strengthening one's faith, and adopting the values of self-restraint and honesty practiced during Ramadan. It also represents a time of gratitude, spiritual renewal and celebration. Nigerians have a lot to learn from this holy celebration, particularly as it concerns giving gratitude to God for keeping this nation together in spite of all the centrifugal forces that have threatened to tear us apart. Since the return of democracy in 1999, Nigeria has continued to face dismembering crisis resulting to economic hardship and political uncertainties, while the insecurity challenges have continued unabated. We in Labour Party are of the opinion that Nigeria needs a socio-economic model of governance which our party has been canvassing for all these while. A new Nigeria cannot be achieved without the enthronement of self-discipline and greater compassion for the people, both being the important pillars of the Ramadan. As we celebrate this holy week of Ramadan, we urge the affluent Nigerians, particularly, those in government circle to keep the ordinary Nigerians in their thoughts and programs, not just for today but always. Nigeria with all its human and resource materials should not be talking about multidimensional poverty. I pray that Almighty Allah will protect our country, our leaders and every Nigeria to witness the prosperity for which divinity has endowed us with. Happy Mubarak. OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH LEADER LABOUR PARTY COMMUNIQUE ARRISING FROM A VIRTUAL MEETING OF LABOUR PARTY STATE YOUTH LEADERS OF THE 36 STATES AND FCT WITH THE NATIONAL YOUTH LEADER ON 10th MARCH 2026. We, the State Youth Leaders of the Labour Party across the 36 states of Nigeria and FCT having followed with keen interest the developments in the leadership of our great party especially as it regards to a shocking cum unbelievable court judgement pronouncing a non member of our party as the interim caretaker chairman, as well as the illegal invasion and hijack of our party headquarters in Abuja. We deliberated on these issues and other matters during our quarterly interactive meeting with the National Youth Leader Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, and the following resolutions were reached. 1. We join our voices with that of our State Chairmen and all the local structures of the party to declare our Solidarity with the constitutionally and morally recognised National Leadership of our party ably led by Barr Julius Abure and Alhaji Umar Farouk as the National Chairman and Secretary. 2. We, therefore, as the mobilization arm and field soldiers of the party at the subnational level, passes a vote of confidence on the National Chairman Barr Julius Abure, National Secretary Alh Umar Farouk, our National Youth Leader Prince Kennedy Ahanotu and all the National Officers of the party. 3. We also looked at the unlawful invasion and temporal hijack of our party national secretariat and hereby inform the current illegal occupants led by one Sen Nenadi Usman to expect the reaction of the Labour Party youths very soon as the youth leaders resolved to storm the National Secretariat Abuja in the coming weeks. 4. We also called on the Nigerian judiciary via the NJC, the Artoney General of the Federation, NBA and the Legal Disciplinary Committee to rise up and save democratic institutions in Nigeria from political manipulation and possible individual hijack by investigating the Judgement of the Frderal High Court of 21th January 2026 where in Nenadi Usman was forced on the party without our party constitutional legitimacy by Justice Lifu in a clear and flagrant violation of our party constitution. 5. We have observed with laughter the failed plan by the unknown criminal backdoor party hijackers to attempt to dissolve a duly constituted subnational (ward, LGA ans State) excos of the party. These act shows that their intentions are never for the progress of the party but to destroy the foundational integrity of the Labour Party. Hence, we use this medium to warn Nenadi and Co to bury the plan of further desecration of our party as we await on the Appeal Court judgement. 6. We want to thank the INEC for speaking up as expected of such a respected electoral institution and for clearly informing Ms Nenadi Usman the limit of her Abia State funded powers as it regards the leadership and constitution of Labour Party. Finally we plead with Nigerian youths who believed and supported the party not to loose hope as Labour Party remains the only platform that will help them realise their political aspirations and ultimately achieving a better Nigeria with Papa Mama Pikin. Forward Ever Backward Never E- Signed Prince Kennedy Ahanotu National Youth Leader, Ahmed Yau, North East Assistant (Gombe) Jato Benjamin, North Central Assistant (Benue) Dr Avotu Johnson Deputy National Youth Leaders South South (Delta) Mal. PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY Rescheduled Congress: Labour Party State Chairmen kick, want INEC to take stiff measures against Nenadi The Labour Party State Chairmen Forum has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to trash into the bin a memo purportedly written by the Caretaker Committee of the party seeking to hold a fresh Congress of the party as from March 26, 2026 as the memo has not complied with the constitution of the party and other laws of the land. The forum comprising of all the state chairmen of the party elected in Congresses carried out on December 6, 2025 also called on the electoral commission to sanction Senator Nenadi Usman and her group. Recall that INEC had refused Senator Nenadi's request to hold congresses while also warning that the Caretaker Committee cannot act on behalf of the Party. In a statement, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, restated that the party had earlier told Nigerians that Senator Nenadi was never a member of the party. Her ignorance of the party constitution and the naivety so far displayed in all her correspondences to INEC offer a justification. For instance, it is only NEC who is empowered by the party constitution to fix date, time and make rules for the conduct of congresses. Secondly, State, Local Government and Ward executives have four years tenure. Notice for another congresses cannot be valid under the Labour Party Constitution when the tenure of those elected in December 2025 still subsists. This was the kernel of INEC letter to her dated 16th of February 2025. The state chairmen forum has therefore urged INEC to consider designating an officer from the commission to run Labour Party. It is therefore on this note that we insist that the attempt by Senator Usman to initiate a new memo to INEC written on March 3rd, notifying the commission of its intention to hold a fresh congress was an action dead on arrival. This is because INEC in their letter dated 16th of February has denied knowledge of any NEC by the Caretaker Committee convened for the sake of dissolution or electing new executive. It is not only unlawful but also an aberration that a caretaker committee will seek to summarily dismiss a duly elected executives of a political party and in turn unilaterally appoint a caretaker committee in their stead. Nigeria is not a lawless nation. In Labour Party constitution, tenure of elected officers is sacrosanct and guaranteed and there is no provision granting a caretaker committee the powers to dissolve elected party structure across the federation. Be that as it may, It is also on record that the Labour Party leadership has appealed the Federal High Court procured judgement. Sign Obiora Ifoh National Publicity Secretary Labour Party 09/03/2026

STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY Threat to dissolve elected state Exco unlawful, Labour Party warns Nenadi to honour INEC's advice The leadership of the Labour Party has taken note of a statement issued by a discredited faction of the party wherein it made light a wise counsel by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) warning that the Senator Nenadi Usman led Caretaker Committee lacks the powers to dissolve the existing Ward, Local Government and State executives of the party and to replace them with handpicked interim executives. Ordinarily, we would have chosen to refrain from making any public statement as the issue of the leadership of the party is presently before the Court of Appeal. However, it is pertinent to address the lies being spewed by the Nenadi Usman faction, as always, when in their usual grand deceptive approach, tried to wave a candid advise by INEC which borders on unconstitutional and bizarre request by Nenadi Usman to dissolve a legitimately elected state organs of the party. We are however not surprised at her illegal request and notice to INEC to dissolve legitimate organs of the party and replace same with illegality since she was appointed in the same manner. Dr Alex Otti and Peter Obi woke up one morning and gather some stakeholders and appointed her and others as the interim caretaker committee of the party which is alien to the constitution of the party. An illegality of that sort cannot be legitimized by a procured judgment of a federal high court. In the letter which has gone virile, the Commission was emphatic when it said, "The commission regrets to inform you that the dissolution of State, Local Government and Ward Executives of your Party in all the 36 States and FCT by the National Executive Council (NEC) without giving the Statutory Notice of the meeting to the Commission and without the authority to act in your Party Constitution cannot be acceded to." I wonder which part of the statement they did not understand. Is it that they did not give a Statutory Notice of the (NEC) meeting to the Commission or that the Interim Executive as presently constituted lacks the authority to act as its existence is alien to the Party Constitution. It is only in the imagination of the distinguished Senator Nenadi Usman that one can wake up one morning and decides who to fire or hire in contravention of the electoral law and party constitution. She must be told that political party management is not a tea party, neither is it a part time assignment. You need to be knowledgeable on the political party lexicon, committed and properly equipped to give your all. It is not a proxy assignment, it is not a puppet-lordship kind of arrangement. It is not enough to rush to the court and allegedly procure judgement but what you do with the judgement is what matters. A higher court is already looking at the injustice mete out at the party leadership and hopefully, a "Daniel' will soon come to judgment and correct the injustice. We expect the Nenadi Usman to explain to its few gullible followers what she meant by that they have "taken all the necessary steps to conclusively address the concerns raised by the Commission." It appears to us vague and unconvincing. She can do better. Did they organize a NEC meeting overnight? Have they changed the party constitution to allow an alien body, a body not known to its own constitution, the power to act? We will see how far this rhetorics will take you to and how much more deception you intend to unleash on your gullible supporters. We however urge the real members of the Labour Party to ignore the antics of these usurpers as their game will soon be up. Hopefully, we will reclaim our dear beloved party and also play an active role ahead the 2027 general elections. Sign: Obiora Ifoh National Publicity Secretary Labour Party 07/03/2026

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT: WHY THIS CLARIFICATION HAS BECOME NECESSARY. In recent months, a flurry of conflicting narratives has flooded the public space regarding the leadership of the Labour Party, particularly concerning the tenure of Barrister Julius Abure as National Chairman. Various individuals and groups have advanced differing interpretations, many of them politically motivated and seeking to create uncertainty about the legitimacy and duration of his tenure. While the matter of party leadership is presently before the Court of Appeal, it has become necessary to separate legal proceedings from misinformation. The ongoing judicial process does not justify the distortion of verifiable constitutional facts. Regardless of pending litigation, the timeline of events surrounding Barrister Julius Abure’s emergence as Chairman and the validity of his tenure remain matters of record. This clarification is therefore not an attempt to pre-empt the decision of the appellate court. Rather, it is intended to provide members of the party, stakeholders, and the general public with an accurate account of when and how Barrister Julius Abure assumed office, the constitutional processes that validated his leadership, and the lawful duration of his tenure. For the avoidance of doubt and in the interest of truth, transparency, and institutional integrity, we hereby restate the facts. ABURE’S TENURE REMAINS VALID UNTIL 2028. It is important to note that the former National Chairman of the Labour Party, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, passed away in December 2020. On 31 December 2020, Maria Lebeke, who was one of the Deputy National Chairmen of the party, was appointed by the National Working Committee (NWC), in accordance with the party’s constitution, to serve in an acting capacity as National Chairman. Maria Lebeke acted in that capacity for three months. Thereafter, she convened a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, in line with the party’s constitution, to fill the vacancy created by the death of Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam. At that NEC meeting, Barrister Julius Abure was unanimously elected on 29 March 2021 to complete the tenure of the late chairman. Barr. Julius Abure was expected to complete the tenure of Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, which was due to expire in June 2023. However, prior to the expiration of that tenure, a NEC meeting was held in Asaba in April 2023. The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Peter Obi, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and other critical stakeholders of the party. At that meeting, the NEC resolved to extend the tenure of the existing leadership by one year. Before the expiration of that extended tenure in June 2024, a National Convention was held on 27 March 2024 in Nnewi, where the current leadership of the party was elected. Consequently, it is fallacious, misleading, and mischievous to continue to suggest that the tenure of Barr. Julius Abure has expired. In fact, following the March 2024 convention, his tenure is expected to run until 2028. Furthermore, the Supreme Court did not delve into the issue of party leadership or the validity of the convention held in Nnewi. The Court merely held that matters concerning the leadership of a political party are internal affairs of that party and that the courts lack jurisdiction to entertain such disputes. At no time did any court set aside the Nnewi convention or declare that Barr. Julius Abure’s tenure had expired. When we speak of the “internal affairs” of a political party, it means that only the recognized organs of the party have the authority to make decisions regarding its leadership and governance. In this case, those organs are the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Executive Council (NEC), and the National Convention. The National Convention spoke clearly and decisively on 27 March 2024 when it conducted its convention and elected the current leadership. By: Hon. Amb. AJU Elumelu-James (Special Adviser to the National Labour Party Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, on Media and Strategic Communications.)🖊️

STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY A Response to Nenadi Usman's Press Conference today. The attention of the leadership of the Labour Party has been drawn to an unsigned Press Conference purportedly by one Nenadi Usman and her cohorts which talked about the invasion of the Labour Party's national headquarters as well as a case of forgery and so on. We need to state very clearly, that the tone of the press conference was not only fallacious and laughable but one that must be dismissed with a wave of hand. We ordinarily will not want to dignify them with a response but because Senator Nenadi and her cohorts by their narration as to how they gained access into the national headquarters of the party at about 1am on Tuesday morning and what played out has already indicted themselves and has also shown that they are the culprit. We would not need to look further for the culprits that broke into the Secretariat. For re-emphasis, we have already told the whole world how about 1am on that fateful Tuesday, February 10, how some persons scaled the fence to pull down the party's billboard and illegally erected billboards belonging to Ms Usman. Nenadi Usman made a grand entrance shortly before noon with full police protection. Videos of how they broke into various offices including that of the National Chairman are already in circulation. Key questions to ask Nenadi Usman is how did they get access into the office? This is because at all the material times till the time they invaded the office, the party was under the control of Barrister Julius Abure, the offices were under his control and we had all the keys to the offices. When they entered the office, who gave them access to the offices. Was there a formal handover from Abure to Nenadi? Who handed over the keys to them, to access the offices that gave them the opportunity to value what was in the office? How did they know what was there and what was removed? For instance, the chairman's key was with the chairman, how did they get access to the chairman's office as to determine what was and what was not in his office. Did the judgement of the lower court, a finality when there are other steps to take? Why did they need Police protection to commit the illegality? Is it not clear that Nenadi and her cohorts were the actual culprit here. As far as we know, we did not hand over the Secretariat to Nenadi Usman and there was actually no need for that because there was a judicial proceedings ongoing and until the final determination of the matter at the appellate courts, he can not claim to be the rightful possessor of the office. We have since stayed the execution of the judgement of the lower court, appealed the judgement because we believe that justice was denied us at the lower court. We are aware of the looting going on at the party Secretariat presently but as we said, we will lay charges at the appropriate time. Nenadi Usman is being clever by half but the long arms of law will soon catch up with her and the other renegades. Nonetheless, we will soon address a press conference in response to all the filthy and baseless allegations leveled against some of our party leaders. We will address the issue of the Letter by the Attorney General, show a recent police report, and forensic analysis which absorbed everybody named in the said letter. We are therefore calling on the members of the public to disregard the content of that Press Conference as it was ill advised, done in bad faith and was also an attempt to portray the leadership of the party in bad light. STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY Labour Party petitions IGP over complicity of police in the invasion, occupation of Party Secretariat For the past one year, there has been all manner of threats by some disgruntled elements in the Labour Party to picket, invade and occupy the National Secretariat of the Labour in Utako, the Federal Capital Territory. These threats were coming either from the Abia state government, the Nigeria Labour Congress, the self styled Labour Party Stakeholders, the faceless Board of Trustees and recently, the illegal Interim National Working Committee. On several occasions, they have actually made good their threats by breaking into the Secretariat but were met with stiff resistance. However, the latest invasion was carried out at around 1am early on Tuesday February 10, when some hoodlums according to security personnel at the Secretariat scaled into the party compound to pull down party's billboards and replaced them with that of the Nenadi Usman. By the dawn of the day, we also noticed the unfortunate role played by the men of the Nigeria Police Force. To our chagrin, police officers from Area Command, Life Camp barricaded the entrance gate and prevented our National Chairman, National Secretary and some other National Officers from entering their offices. The police officers however were permitting the persons from a list in their possession who the police officers insisted were the only persons permitted to access their offices, including the Abia state deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu and Senator Nenadi Usman, amongst others. Senator Nenadi Usman also addressed a press conference with the police protection. Upon our audience with the Commissioner of Police, FCT on the said Tuesday, we were directed to meet the Area Commander, Life Camp. The Area Commander assured us that the situation will be reversed as the Police must maintain professionalism and neutrality in internal affairs of Political Parties. Based on that understanding, we went ahead to reclaim our Secretariat. We are however dismayed to find a larger contingent of police officers on Wednesday 11th February, 2026 who barricaded the premises but permitted certain individuals from a faction to enter to hoist the banners of a so-called Caretaker Chairman in the premises. It is not in doubt that there is a certain group calling themselves the National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Nenadi Esther Usman who invaded the office on Tuesday 10th February, 2026 and are bent on causing a breakdown of law and order. But we had expected that if the office was going to be sealed off temporarily, no group should be allowed access so as not to create the impression of bias on the side of the police. This police action complained about is still ongoing in the premises as they provided security for Nenadi Usman to also address a press conference again on Thursday. We were compelled to petition the Inspector General of Police on the absurdity of the police FCT command's role in unlawfully taking side with Senator Usman, while resisting the leadership of the party as led by Barrister Julius Abure and his executive from gaining access into their offices. We implore the IGP to use his good offices in directing that the police officers maintain professionalism and neutrality in their current intervention at the Labour Party National Headquarters. Arising from Nenadi Usman's press briefing on Thursday where she made attempts to twist the narratives by alleging that Barrister Abure broke into the Labour Party office and removed files, and that hoodlums were arrested in the party Secretariat, we find that statement not only laughable but very disgusting. How can she say that their office was invaded when indeed, the office still belongs to Abure led executive. On the allegations that hoodlums were arrested in the party office, we need to make it categorically clear that there were no hoodlums in the office. We challenge the police to produce the hoodlums that were alleged to have been arrested in the party office. For the purpose of clarity, we need to make it abundantly clear that police only arrested three persons in the office, one of whom is the FCT state Secretary of the party who lives in the premises and two other boys brewing Kunu drinks for their daily living in the office. These were the boys the police arrested but the Nenadi Usman and her cohorts are using it to disinform the public to imply that hoodlums were arrested in the office. On the 25th of January, we had written a petition to the Police when we got a hint that she was coming to invade the office. They indeed actualized their threat, broke into the office, cart away properties and files. It is clear that Nenadi illegally carried out enforcement with the help of the police. We have also watched with keen interest the misleading information they are pushing out all these while and it is unfortunate that those who feel that they want to lead this nation think that they can lead with blackmail. It is alleged that Nenadi procured judgement at the lower court but we have since stayed the execution of the judgement. We have also filed our appeal and they have been served via publication because they evaded service and the process of appeal is going to take its course. Ordinarily when there is a motion for stay of execution and there is a pending appeal, all parties are supposed to maintain status quo. They were not supposed to come to the office in the first instance without an explicit order of the court which is the proper way of enforcing judgement. By the Sheriff and Civil Process Act, there are procedures for enforcement of judgement. What they did was self help by coming to say that they are taking over our office when there was no court order to enter the office. How can any reasonable person be talking about breaking in. Do you break into what you already have? The documents in that office are ours not theirs. They are impostors and usurpers. Finally, we also have it on good authority that there are plans to arrest some of our national officers, including our national chairman for daring to stand up against the impunity of a South East governor. As we await the arrest, we call on all lovers of democracy to stand up and protect this democracy that we all fought for. There is a limit to how long this impunity can last. We are also calling on our party faithfuls to remain calm as the party leadership is doing everything within the law to ensure that justice is achieved for the party. BREAKING NEWS The Barrister Julius Abure leadership of the Labour Party has recovered the party's national secretariat illegally occupied by the Abia state government and the Nenadi Usman's group earlier today. Thugs loyal to Senator Usman broke into the Secretariat complex by 1am early Tuesday morning pulling down party's billboards and carting away valuables. Aided by 8 truck load of policemen, Nenadi Usman and a few of her cohorts broke security doors and gained access into the National Chairman and secretary's offices carting away sensitive and confidential party documents. They also addressed a press conference. However, the leadership of the party has since recovered its secretariat after it was discovered that the operation by the Nenadi and the deputy governor of Abia state, was illegal and unauthorized. The party will take inventory of the losses and outright theft that are observed resulting from the illegal invasion after which a formal charge will be pressed. The party by this statement is assuring the public and the party members that normal party activities will resume tomorrow being Wednesday February 11, 2026 at the Utako headquarters of the party. The party also regrets the inconveniences the temporal hiccup must have caused our teeming members. We also warn that the party will no longer tolerate further attempts by some desperate politicians to impugn on the lawful activities of the party. We also advice any group claiming leadership to exercise patience until the final determination of the matters at the appellate courts in the land. Sign Obiora Ifoh. Labour Party 102/2026

STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY Abia State Deputy Governor, Nenadi Usman, others forcefully break into National Secretariat, cart away valuables, and bar staff from gaining access. The leadership of the Labour Party has condemned the forceful breaking into and occupation of the National Secretariat by the Abia state deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu and Senator Nenadi Usman, amongst others on Tuesday. The invasion according to security personnel at the Secretariat said that hoodlums invaded the Secretariat around 1am early on Tuesday to pull down party's billboards and replaced them with that of the Nenadi Usman. In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the invasion aided by eight Truck-load of Policemen, refused entrance officers and staff of the party and ensuring only names of members of Nenadi Interim leadership were given access into the Secretariat. "The Abure led leadership is dumbfounded by the invasion of its secretariat by Nenadi camp aided by Police in the early hours of Tuesday. Accompanied by the Abia state deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, Senator Nenadi ordered his hoodlums to break into all the offices, and carted files and other materials alongside. When some of our senior officials came to office in the morning, we were prevented by the Police. We refused to confront them to avoid clashes and confrontations, choosing peaceful approach. It is on record that a Federal High Court in FCT gave a judgement which recognized Senator Usman as the Interim Chairman of the Labour Party. However, the party leadership has obtained a Stay of Execution and has since appealed the judgement. It is therefore inappropriate and needless for any group to resort to self-help by illegally breaking into the National Secretariat. We are by this statement calling on the Police, Department of State Security, office of the National Security Adviser and other relevant agencies to take note of the unlawful invasion of our party Secretariat. If this anomaly is not checked, it is a pointer that our democracy and its institutions are being threatened. We are also calling on our party faithfuls to remain vigilant as the party leadership is doing everything within the law to ensure that justice is not denied the party. STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY Removal of Abure led executive from the INEC's portal strange, unacceptable ... Vows to upturn judgment of lower court at the appellate court The leadership of the Labour Party has once again reiterated that the judgement of the Federal High Court in Abuja as well as the removal of the names of its executive from the Independent National Electoral Commission's portal by the commission will not deter its plans to put up a strong show in the 2027 general election. The party vowed to ensure that the judgment of the lower court will be upturned at the appellate court. In a statement by the Labour Party's National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party called on Nigerians to rise up against the strangulation and monetization of democracy in the country by a few power-drunks in Nigeria, warning that Nigeria may be heading for the precipice if the inordinate ambitions of some politicians are not checked. He said, "Some persons who are applauding the impunity by some politicians should retrace and do some introspection because this was how in the past, they applauded injustice in our democracy because they were beneficiaries. At the end of the day when their enthroned leaders began to abuse power they started complaining. "For us in Labour Party, our faith is strong that the appellate court will do the right thing and therefore we advice our members to remain calm. We will continue with the struggle to take our party from the godfather. "Labour Party is a party that is based on social democracy where no one man is permitted to appoint everybody. It is against the principles of the party that one man will sit at a place and gather everybody and appoint everybody from the National Working Committee to the state, down to the ward executive. That is the impunity of the highest order, this I believe negates the principles of the party. If we say there are no party ideology in Nigeria, this is how it starts. "We are very sure that it will be quashed on appeal. The celebration of the Abia state governor, Alex Otti, Nenadi Usman and their cohorts on the appearance of their names on the INEC portal will be short-lived. It is for a short time, their victory is pyrrhic and there is nothing to celebrate because the dooms day is closer than they will imagine which I believe will be very catastrophic for them. "Moreover, it is very clear that the appointment of the caretaker committee did not go through the normal procedure. Proper notice was not given in line with the party constitution and the electoral act." Sign: Obiora Ifoh National Publicity Secretary Labour Party. 31/01/2026

STATEMENT FROM THE LABOUR PARTY Nenadi: Labour Party to appeal Judgement ... It's curious that our adversaries were boasting, jubilating before judgement was delivered The Barrister Julius Abure leadership of the Labour Party has said it will immediately appeal the judgement of the Federal High Court in FCT which gave recognition to Esther Nenadi Usman's Caretaker Committee. In a judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, the court misinterpreted the April 4, 2025, verdict of the Supreme Court of Nigeria to declare a former Minister of Finance, and a non registered member of the Labour Party, Esther Nenadi Usman, as the Caretaker chairman of the party which is alien to the Labour Party Constitution. In a statement issued in Abuja by the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, the party held that the judgement was a clear contradiction against the Supreme Court judgement which clearly stated that no court has the power to appoint leadership for any political party and that leadership issue is an internal affairs of the political party. The party said it is happy that the Federal High Court of the FCT is not the last court, and that the party will go on appeal and put its position before the Court of Appeal. According to the party's spokesperson, "Although we are yet to see the Certified True Copy of the judgment in order to fully make comment about it, our position will become stronger when we see the CTC of the judgement. But generally, from the brief we have gotten so far, it is clear that the party will appeal the judgement. "Before today's judgment, we have been suspecting that it may go this way because of the body language around the court. When the matter was first filed, it was assigned to Justice Omotosho and suddenly, there was a sumarsult, as another matter was filed which was impari material and the one sent to Omotosho was withdrawn and now sent to Justice Peter Lifu. That was a red flag for us. "Secondly, the court refused us the opportunity to respond to issues raised in the counter affidavit filed by other parties and quickly adjourned for judgement. That was the second red flag. "Our adversaries were all over the places, jubilating weeks before, over a judgement that has not been delivered, telling everyone that they have already won. The jubilation by our adversaries was all over the social media, that come today the judiciary will hand over the party to Dr. Alex Otti. "Now coming to look at the judgement itself, Nigerians should remember that the Court of Appeal pronounced Julius Abure's National Working Committee as the authentic leadership of the party. That pronouncement was what Nenadi Usman took to the Supreme Court to say that the courts (Federal High Court and Appeal Court) were wrong to have pronounced somebody as the Chairman of the Party. Ironically, today, a Federal High Court has sumarsulted and pronounced somebody as the Caretaker National Chairman of a party. So what is the judiciary turning into? "To us, that was a clear contradiction against what the Supreme Court said. Secondly, the Supreme Court said that all matters that have to do with the leadership of the political party are internal affairs of the party and that has been the position of the Supreme Court. "The courts have severely declined jurisdiction on matters that have to do with internal affairs of political parties. Looking at the judgement itself, in one breath, the court said the Caretaker Committee was properly set up, in another breath, the court said, it was an internal affair of a political party. In any event, the court was even wrong to be interpreting the decision of the Supreme Court. "Secondly, even the Supreme Court never said that our tenure has expired. The supreme Court simply declined jurisdiction in entertaining the matter because it was an internal affairs of the party. "In any event, the tenure of the executive had never expired. The tenure of the executive was to expire in June 2024 but the National Convention was held in March, 2024 before the expiration of the then executive, which created the present leadership of the party. So for the court to have stated that the tenure has expired and a vacuum created are all laughable." "It is curious at how this court arrived at holding that there was a vacuum in the leadership of the party when it didn't go into the validity and legality of the national convention of the party held on March 27th, 2024. The party however urged its members to remain calm as the leadership will do everything within the laws to ensure that justice is served for the interest of the party. It warned that the party is not for sale and no amount of financial power will make us abdicate our leadership position in the party.
