The poisoning of the public discourse on Muslims, migrants and refugees has been consistent and deliberate.
An anti Muslim agenda has been pursued by some in politics , the media and some think tanks and we have to be brave enough to call it out. They have created the climate that we now see play out in our towns and cities and they are as much to blame as the thugs on the street.

Never forgive the right-wing press for their decades of hate and lies poured out against migrants.
It was not news or comment. It was fascist hate propaganda. Those who wrote and authorised it were not naive. They would have known that it was likely to result in violence, but they went ahead nonetheless.
The same applies to Tory politicians and their relentless attempts to demonise people in small boats.
