@NoDeceptionCA
The Taxpayer Deception Act limits voter rights, and puts schools, emergency and disaster response & homelessness services at risk. Vote NO in November!

Teachers oppose the Taxpayer Deception Act because it jeopardizes our children's health and education by diverting funds from necessary upgrades to school safety, security, and fire systems, as well as provide safe drinking water, fix deteriorating gas lines, and tackle issues like asbestos and mold. These are only SOME of the risks our children would face.

Happy Monday! Here’s your reminder to listen to the legendary activist @DoloresHuerta and “vote a great big NO on this one."

Voters are overwhelmingly rejecting this extreme initiative that helps a few wealthy real estate developers and landlords avoid paying their fair share. Californians see straight through this deceit and are unwilling to support a measure that would dismantle our entertainment industry and take thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic growth along with it. #NOonTDA

“This thing has the potential to devastate our industry and the jobs that support it.”
“Entertainment workers are asking, ‘Why would they do this to us?’ It’s almost like a personal attack.” - Thom Davis, president of the CA council for Hollywood crew members union @IATSE.
The Taxpayer Deception Act would cripple CA’s entertainment industry, taking thousands of jobs with it. Workers’ livelihoods are on the line because wealthy developers don’t want to pay their fair share.

“The consequences of allowing this measure to stay on the ballot are extremely diore for our state’s creative economy…the risk of the tax credit going away altogether would be catastrophic. No one will be served by the uncertainty this will cause for the film and TV industry in California.” - Producer Colleen Bell
This isn’t a “scare tactic” this is actually scary, and industry experts know it. Do not let wealthy backers destroy California’s prized entertainment industry, killing thousands upon thousands of good-paying jobs just because they don’t want to pay their fair share.

“The Taxpayer Deception Act is a Republican attempt to turn back history and gut vital city services that help millions of Angelenos and have far reaching and dire consequences for Los Angeles’ signature entertainment industry. If the measure passes in November, production opportunities and hundreds of thousands of good-paying entertainment jobs may leave the state. It will be a devastating blow that our city, working Angelenos and their loved ones cannot afford. Together, we must vote no on this deceptive initiative.” Los Angeles Mayor @KarenBassLA.

Many of us in California know someone in the film and TV industry. From sound engineers to talent to stagehands, we all know someone. The Taxpayer Deception Act would devastate CA’s film and TV industries, slashing thousands of jobs and moving entertainment to other states.
Jobs and entire industries are on the line because wealthy developers don’t want to pay their fair share. We must stop this dangerous measure.

We wanted to highlight another clip from our @CityofSanJose event, where Corey Condren explained how the Taxpayer Deception Act puts our safety at risk. Wealthy developers are trying to confuse us to avoid paying their fair share.

When we talk about TDA slashing funds for emergency and disaster response, we aren’t exaggerating the risks. If the TDA passes, we'll lose emergency funding statewide and in our communities.
Our firefighters need resources to save lives. #NOonTDA

The Taxpayer Deception Act would overturn AB 28, a law that protects Californians from mass shootings, gun violence, and established vital school safety measures.
We MUST protect Californians against this dangerous measure.

Children dying by gun violence is a uniquely American tragedy. We #WearOrange on National Gun Violence Awareness Day because no child should live in fear of gun violence—in their schools, neighborhoods, or anywhere.

Thank you, @CityofClovisCA Mayor Lynne Ashbeck, for sharing why the Taxpayer Deception Act is destructive and must be opposed in November. Clovis joins an ever-growing list of CA cities in opposing this initiative that will hurt voters and hurt our communities.
