I often see my conservative students start to become more liberal. But it’s not from me - I literally just teach them the names of bones. It’s because their labmates have randomly ended up being a Hispanic kid, a Muslim girl, and a gay guy, and they have all become friends.

Holy shit. The fires in LA today are absolutely devastating—so many people are losing their homes (including some of my own dear friends). We shared this house. Every room had her mark, her little bed or water bowl or fave spot or something, The house is so empty now. I’ve never been here without her. (I live alone) Tomorrow I drive north to Boston, to pack up my mother’s files and arrange the burial of her ashes.
