Preterists, Reformed, amillennial, & post-millennial types must be answered. They dominate the landscape of Christian discussion in America. They’re far afield from the faith delivered to the saints by Jesus & the apostles. But what they need most is conversion to Christ.

@asophiething And let’s not pretend. LDS is as dark and carnal as everyone. But they have great PR as a sort of caricature of “Christian” lifestyle. Yet they’re fodder for swipes at Christians when the Christian faith itself excludes them as they are. They’re not especially conservative either

Most Mormons being kind devout people is not an endorsement of Mormonism. It’s an indictment. Those kind devout people are being wasted on a hokey cult of pagan rituals and plural spirit wives. It’s a tragedy :(

@aaron_renn Your premise is flawed because borrowing a name and applying it to yourself doesn’t make you whatever that name refers to. This is the trans argument. You are yielding important substantive ground to a phantasm.

I think the best way to describe the LDS Church is as a "heretical Christian sect." It's Christian in that a) they self-identify as Christian, b) Christ is a major figure, c) they use the Christian scriptures (albeit not exclusively), and d) it emerged out of the Second Great Awakening (Joseph Smith was from the Burnt-Over District). It's a sect (not a cult) in that it is "a group adhering to a distinctive doctrine or to a leader" (Merriam-Weber definition). It's heretical in that its theology significantly violates the Nicene Creed. In this, it is similar to Jehovah's Witnesses or Christian Science, both of which are listed as Christian in that list. So Sen. Lee has something of a point in light of that. However... It seems to me that what today's LDS Church really wants dearly is to be treated as just another Christian denomination. That's just not going to happen unless it significantly revises its doctrines to get at least within spitting distance of the Nicene Creed.

Can anyone tell me why The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was left out of the list of Christian churches?

@MamaCAllen Believe what you like. But LDS is not part of the Christian faith. The figure you refer to as Jesus, to the extent about Him anything refers to any part of the Book of Mormon, is a character in a fictional novel from which a cult sprang. It isn’t biblical, historical Jesus.

@BrentHBaker @LuluGNavarro @nytimes Saying that Weiss’s ideology is “anathema” is such a self-own. LOL. “WE don’t have an ideology except that everything YOU think should have you expelled.@.

Scott Pelley says Bari Weiss needs to be removed from CBS News because she, not he and CBS News, are biased: “She brings an ideology into CBS News where that is just anathema.” And he equates running CBS News to flying a 747. @LuluGNavarro, @NYTimes The Interview podcast host: “Do you think Barry Weiss needs to be removed?” Pelley: “Oh, gosh, yes. She’s a lovely person. And her Free Press organization that she founded has been very successful. She’s proven that, great for her. But television’s not her thing. She brings an ideology into CBS News where that is just anathema. And so it’s a terrible fit. It’s probably not her fault. But it’s just a terrible fit. She doesn’t know television. She doesn’t understand how it works. She doesn’t have management experience for a large organization like CBS News. So yes, I do think that we would be far better off without her. Maybe she goes back to the Free Press and has a sterling career. But this is like somebody walking up to me and saying, there’s a 747. There are 400 people on it. We need you to fly it to Paris. I’m going to decline because I don’t have a clue.”

@SpeaktheTruth64 @LostMyHats @grok Notice the root of it all is LDS “early leaders”. Not the OT. Not the NT. The Book of Mormon is basically 19th century American fan fiction about Jesus. Aside from its references to Bible names, not one person, place or event ever existed or happened.

"I'm a polytheist who believes God was once a man, that He's married to a female goddess and they live on a planet called Kolob, that Jesus and Satan are brothers, that there's a potentially infinite number of gods and I'll one day become the god of my own planet populated with my celestial space babies, I deny every single essential Christian doctrine, and reject every historic Christian creed. Now explain to me why I'm not a Christian right this second."

A dead giveaway that someone has never read the Book of Mormon-Another Testament of Jesus Christ- is when they say that members of the Church of Jesus Christ (known as Latter-day Saints) aren't Christians. You cannot read the Book of Mormon-Another Testament of Jesus Christ- and come up with that conclusion.

BREAKING: Fars now confirms that Iran has been charging ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz between $1.5 million and $2 million per passage. President Trump has previously commented: “There are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers going through the Hormuz Strait. They better not be and, if they are, they better stop now.” How does President Trump respond?

@espirituencasa @henryolsenEPPC How? If LDS are Christians then, simple, McDonald’s is an Irish restaurant. They have an Irish name and serve potatoes. That’s what “simple” gets you. LDS is an American made perversion of the Christian faith. Wholly invented in the USA. Nothing remotely Christian in it. Simple.

@toellsnemesis @henryolsenEPPC I guess if someone opened an “Christian Abortion Church” people would defend them as Christian. Nothing about the Mormons is remotely Christian except the use of His name in their name. Jesus Himself disavows them.
