Spent a day playing with configs until I randomly found out this topic: issuetracker.google.com/issues/2260950… So disabled statistics fix sync problems. The tricky part is that my project didn't show any sync errors in the logs before the fix.

Apparently, sending usage statistics to Google may break your Android Studio sync 🤪 Had a composite project with includeBuild. After upgrading to Gradle 7.4 and AS Flamingo, it synced fine. But the code import was red, and it said "Kotlin not configured". #Android
