Only a few specific cities have been granted an exemption from DCA's "perimeter rule." The rule forbids any non-stop flight more than 1250mi away from DCA, instead directing them to IAD. The goal is to "reduce congestion." IAD is 30 miles from the US Capitol, DCA is only 5.

A semi-famous poster recently revealed she thought all francophones were fully bilingual in English... we do a lot of bilingualism for symbolic reasons but a lot of it is for communication/understanding

Everything about official bilingualism in Canada is built on myth. People can’t “just learn” a language they don’t need. Canada isn’t “built on” two equally-sized language groups. Bilingualism isn’t “necessary” to function at an elite level. It’s all just Laurentian folklore.
