Also in the vehicle were their 65-year-old grandfather, Gary Neville, and their great-grandmother. As they proceeded through an intersection, their vehicle was struck at high speed by an SUV that failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver of the SUV was Marco Muzzo, a 29-year-old heir to one of Canada’s wealthiest construction families. Muzzo had just landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport via a private jet following a bachelor party in Miami. At the time of the crash, he was driving with a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit. The impact k*lled all three children and their grandfather, while the two grandmothers survived with serious injuries. In 2016, Muzzo pleaded guilty to four counts of impaired driving causing death and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. His case sparked national outrage regarding the leniency of impaired driving laws, which intensified when he was granted full parole in February 2021 after serving approximately five years of his sentence.
