Neil White, English writer: Why do the British dislike Donald Trump? First of all, Trump lacks some of the qualities traditionally valued by the British. For example, he has no class, no charm, no composure, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity. We like to laugh, and although Trump can be funny, he has never said anything witty or even mildly amusing—not once, ever. This particularly bothers the British—for us, the absence of humor is almost the same as the absence of humanity. And with Trump, this seems to be the case. He doesn’t even appear to understand what a joke is; his idea of humor is a crude remark, an illiterate insult, or a random act of cruelty. Trump is a troll, and like all trolls, he is never funny and never laughs. His mind is simple—like a bot running on petty prejudices and various nastiness, with no layer of irony, complexity, nuance, or depth. Everything is superficial. Some Americans may see this as a refreshing, progressive simplicity and authenticity. But we, the British, do not. We see it as a lack of inner life, a lack of soul. In Britain, we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are brave underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is the opposite of that. He’s not even a spoiled rich boy or a greedy fat man—he’s more like a bloated white slug, a privileged Jabba the Hutt. He breaks all the rules of basic decency associated with the Marquess of Queensberry—he hits below the belt, something a gentleman would never do. He especially likes to strike the vulnerable or voiceless—and kicks them when they are down. His flaws are hard to miss, and the fact that at least one-third of Americans fail to notice them is shocking to the British. It is impossible to read any of his tweets or hear him speak even a couple of sentences without peering into an abyss. In fact, if Frankenstein had decided to create a monster made entirely of human flaws—he would have created Trump. “A man without a sense of humor is almost crippled to me,” — Pierre Richard.

Reading The Good Soldier Švejk has become almost impossible! It’s practically a chronicle of modern times. “Well now, Mrs. Müllerová. When I was with the 91st Regiment at the imperial maneuvers in Moravia, our Colonel Batzler suddenly ordered all telephone communication to be banned entirely and even had one telephone operator court-martialed for disobeying the order. And what chaos followed! By mistake, we captured Hungarian honvéd troops who were actually on our side, and we ourselves were nearly shelled by the artillery of the 33rd Regiment. Luckily, instead of ammunition, they were delivered forty crates of cognac for the officers’ mess, so they all got drunk and didn’t fire. Later it turned out that our colonel had gone mad because his wife had run off with an official from the telephone company—that’s why he banned communication. The colonel had to be packed off to a madhouse, and when he got out, he became a Conservative deputy. That’s how things go!” Jaroslav Hašek, The Good Soldier Švejk

A story that feels more like a spy novel than real events unfolded between Ukrainian intelligence and Russian спецслужбы—this time in the very heart of New York City. At the center of the story is Russian national Nomma Zarubina, who, according to U.S. prosecutors, was linked to the FSB and operated under cover. Her task was to infiltrate circles of the Russian opposition abroad. She built connections with influential émigrés, including Ilya Ponomarev and Andrei Illarionov, attempting to gather information through personal relationships. On the surface, her activities appeared to be those of an ordinary woman earning money through prostitution. In reality, investigators believe this was part of a broader operation: she established close contact with targets and gradually gained their trust, using emotional and intimate relationships. Opposing her was Sarah Ashton-Cirillo, an American who, after the start of the full-scale war, добровольно joined Ukraine’s defense, served as a frontline medic, and later began cooperating with Ukrainian military intelligence. There, as she noted, she significantly expanded her network of contacts among Russian elites and potential agents. Their acquaintance began during the NATO Summit 2024 in Washington in 2024. At the time, Zarubina’s behavior struck Cirillo as suspicious. She recalled: “During dinner, she raised my suspicions. I reported my concerns to my superiors in Ukraine.” These suspicions later developed into a full-scale operation. In the spring of 2025, Zarubina herself initiated contact. According to Cirillo, it initially seemed like an attempt to extract information but quickly took on a romantic tone. She did not refuse to play along, coordinating her actions with Ukrainian intelligence, and traveled to New York. The relationship lasted about eight months. During that time, Cirillo managed to obtain valuable information. She described the period as a difficult psychological experience, during which she had to “descend into the dark abyss” of another mindset. Interestingly, Zarubina herself was not unequivocally loyal to the Russian regime. She showed sympathy for anti-Putin movements, including the Freedom of Russia Legion, and, according to Cirillo, demonstrated the typical flexibility of system agents—a willingness to negotiate with anyone for the sake of her own survival.

Time to talk about the contribution of Jews to the founding of what is now the United States. In today’s world of fake narratives and loud accusations about Jews as a “fifth column” or “outsiders,” one thing is often ignored: during the American Revolution, Jews—though fewer than 0.1% of the population—were deeply involved. Not in the shadows, but directly in the struggle. They risked money, lives, families, and homes, because British policies looked very familiar—echoes of the oppression many of them had fled in Europe. For them, the Revolution wasn’t abstract—it was personal. They didn’t scheme. They did what all patriots did: fought, financed, supplied, and died. And their contribution was strikingly disproportionate. Take Francis Salvador of South Carolina. A young, wealthy immigrant, he became the first Jew elected to a colonial legislature. In 1776 he rode through the night to warn militia about an attack—and soon after was killed, becoming the first Jewish casualty of the Revolution. Mordecai Sheftall of Savannah—a colonel and the highest-ranking Jewish officer—personally financed supplies for troops in Georgia and South Carolina. Even after being captured, he continued supporting the patriot cause. Then finance—because wars are won not only with bullets. Haym Salomon, a Polish immigrant, helped turn foreign loans into real money for the Continental Congress, worked with Robert Morris, paid troops, and supported the Yorktown campaign. By conservative estimates, he provided over $650,000 (tens of millions today). He died in poverty. Others played critical roles: Aaron Lopez outfitted ships and broke blockades; Isaac Moses supplied gunpowder; the Gratz brothers and Joseph Simon funded and equipped troops; Abigail Minis fed soldiers and sheltered refugees. These were not abstract “bankers,” but people who gave up everything for the cause. Jews also fought. Around 100–160 served, including officers like Solomon Bush, wounded at Brandywine, and David Salisbury Franks of the Continental Army. For that era, such participation was remarkable. And here’s the key point: when the future of the colonies was uncertain, Jews chose America—putting everything on the line for a country that didn’t yet exist. Yes, some were loyalists, just like among Christians. But the majority supported independence. They didn’t “take over” the Revolution. They were part of it—deeply. They helped build a country where religious equality became possible, where, as George Washington later wrote, there would be “no sanction to bigotry, no assistance to persecution.” America is not the story of one group. But it became stronger because people like these were there from the very beginning—not as outsiders, but as patriots who believed that freedom must be for everyone.

“The events unfolding look like Putin’s perfect plan,” the Polish prime minister sadly remarked—then supposedly went on a drinking binge with his Finnish counterpart. The global situation has slipped out of the control of those who, until recently, saw themselves as the rulers of the world—or at least their managers. Fuel prices in Europe have risen by 70% in a month, and there is no reason to believe they will drop anytime soon. Soon planes may stop flying. Industry has stalled. Fights may begin at gas stations. No one seems to have a plan. Ursula von der Leyen has disappeared from the political stage, leaving things in the hands of “some Estonian official.” Or maybe the Estonian just “ate” her—without salt or pepper. It’s hard not to note that the UK may be hit the hardest. Orbán and Fico: “We told you so.” And indeed, they did. In the United States, party purges have reportedly begun. Pam Bondi—once a prominent figure in Trump-era briefings—has been removed. Then came the dismissal of three top generals. That’s only what is publicly known. Marco Rubio and Pete Hegseth are portrayed as tightly holding their positions, not letting anyone close—even the vice president. J.D. Vance is described as unsure whether to even show up for work. In Israel, heavy losses in equipment and personnel are reported, despite forces not reaching the Litani River. As long-range methods of warfare become less effective, the Knesset is said to be considering extreme legislative measures regarding Palestinians in occupied territories—drawing controversial historical comparisons. Footage also reportedly showed an Iranian farmer firing a rifle at a U.S. helicopter searching for downed pilots—one man against a heavily armed aircraft. The implication: Iran will not be easily subdued. But power vacuums don’t stay empty. When someone shows weakness, others move in. In today’s global agenda, Ukrainians and Russian liberals are portrayed as being completely sidelined—even marginalized to the extreme.

HOW AND WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN TO AMERICA..? Yes, once the United States loved to tell the world a fairy tale about itself—as the LAST BASTION OF FREEDOM, MORALITY, and DEMOCRACY. White columns, lofty words, the shine of the “AMERICAN DREAM.” It all looked beautiful, almost like a celebration. The funniest part? Almost everyone believed it. And now—a red-haired clown and pedophile has surrounded himself with lackeys. He doesn’t give a fuck about the world—he’s already got one foot in the grave. Just look at his face—HE’S ALMOST A CORPSE. Congress and the Senate pretend everything is fine. The Supreme Court is also busy with something—WHO THE FUCK KNOWS WHAT—they probably have “important matters.” Only about a third of the U.S. population voted for the shit that’s happening in the country—FUCK!—JUST THIRTY PERCENT—and today AMERICA is on the brink of another slaughter. The clown and pedophile SWORE THERE WOULD BE NO WARS. That’s exactly why his supporters voted for him. By the way, when coffins start arriving in Texas and Virginia, it’ll be too late to mourn and call your senators. America didn’t collapse in a single day. It rotted. It decayed slowly, like a fur coat eaten away by moths for years. First came double standards in foreign policy: sanctions for some over “human rights violations,” handshakes and billions for others if it was выгодно. Democracy turned into an EXPORT PRODUCT—imposed by force, then abandoned once the profit was made. Inside the country, it’s even worse. Politics is no longer a battle of ideas—it’s a freak show where truth doesn’t matter, and the winner is whoever shouts louder and lies better. Corporations buy laws, lobbyists write the future, and ordinary people are just extras in a performance called “elections.” Morality? Don’t make me laugh. Consumer culture has devoured everything—from education to human relationships. Money became the only measure of value. If you’re rich—you’re right. If not, it’s your fault. The social fabric is torn: some live in luxury, others in debt, fear, and the constant anxiety of falling even lower. America, which once taught the world how to live, no longer knows what to hold on to itself. Freedom of speech has turned into a WEAPON OF MANIPULATION. The media—factories of reality. Truth no longer matters—only the narrative does. And here’s the bottom line: instead of a “city upon a hill”—a loud, cynical marketplace where everything is for sale. Where democracy is a brand, not a value. Where morality is optional, not fundamental. “Over 14 months, Donald Trump has turned America into a country that people around the world hate, fear, pity, laugh at, despise, no longer believe in, and want nothing to do with. I suppose that’s what happens when an absolutely stupid, cruel, corrupt, lawless, dishonest madman gets into the White House.” — Joe Walsh

Two missions under the full moon: Orion flies, Trump stays… The launch of the lunar mission and the U.S. president’s address to the nation made the full moon night in Europe sleepless. The lunar expedition will last ten days. The war with Iran—about the same. At least under direct U.S. leadership. “We are going to hit them very hard within the next 2–3 weeks. We’re going to send them back to the Stone Age, where they belong,” said an enraged Donald Trump. As we predicted, he has lost his former ease in this confrontation. To be fair, he’s not the first to face such difficulties with the Persians. The problem is that you can’t scare them with the Stone Age—you might even encourage it. Not the people, of course, but their current wavering leaders. The worse the living conditions, the more the population depends on the власти. And this formula, apparently, works in Iran. In any case, no surprises: Orion flies, Trump stays.

Ukrainian flags have been raised in Kuban! Men, in broad daylight, hung blue-and-yellow flags in central squares across cities of the Krasnodar region. Now they are flying right above the heads of frightened Russians. Local authorities and police have already arrived, but are afraid to take them down—they simply stand and watch, not daring to approach. People are filming it on their phones, and the internet is already exploding: “Kuban is waking up.”

A Disneyland fan from South Carolina and a commander-in-chief with bone spurs in his heels—that’s a devastating force. Lindsey Graham: “I just had a great conversation with the President of the United States. I fully support his ultimatum to the Iranian regime to open the Strait of Hormuz and reach a peace agreement… If Iran makes the wrong choice, it will face a large-scale military operation… After today’s conversation with President Donald Trump, I am absolutely convinced that he will use overwhelming military force against the regime if it continues to obstruct navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and refuses a diplomatic solution to achieve our military objectives. If it’s still not clear to Iran and others that President Trump is serious, then I don’t know when it will be…” Americans, very soon you may find yourselves welcoming hundreds or even thousands of coffins of your soldiers with tears in your eyes. He will destroy the elite of the U.S. Army—and I don’t even know who you will blame afterward: MAGA, Trump, or yourselves…

Revolt against Rutte and paralysis in NATO governance Open frustration is growing in European diplomatic circles over the actions of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Colleagues describe his stance as “political blindness” or even deliberate sabotage. Rutte категорically refuses to acknowledge the deepening split with Washington and insists on maintaining the existing governance structure—effectively making any decision-making impossible. French and Eastern European officials are furious that the Secretary General is blocking the formal launch of talks on creating an autonomous European security system. They openly accuse him of trying to save the alliance’s image at the expense of the continent’s real security. Diplomatic sources are not holding back. The alliance is falling apart before their eyes. The United States has effectively shifted to a policy of open pressure, demanding the impossible in exchange for vague guarantees. In Brussels, panic is giving way to cold pragmatism. The European Union is urgently trying to assemble its own military capability, realizing that American satellites and logistics could be cut off at the snap of a finger from the White House. The alliance is effectively dead, as internal contradictions have blocked any possibility of decision-making. Washington has de facto stepped out of the game, leaving its allies facing an existential threat. Europe is being forced to recognize that strategic autonomy is no longer a French ambition but the only path to survival. European leaders and defense officials are already preparing for a possible U.S. exit from NATO, according to Politico citing European officials and diplomats. “NATO is paralyzed—they can’t even hold meetings. It’s quite obvious that NATO is already falling apart. We cannot wait until the alliance completely dies,” a European diplomat said. Overall, the European Union has intensified preparations for its own defense plans and the creation of an independent defense architecture—without relying on potential U.S. support, which is increasingly uncertain. The foundation will be the “European Defence Union” project, with its own budget and command structure independent from NATO headquarters. France is активно pushing the idea of a continent-wide “nuclear umbrella” together with the United Kingdom, sparking intense debates over leadership in the new bloc. There are discussions about bypassing the unanimity rule to enable rapid deployment of pan-European rapid reaction forces. Ukraine, in this new configuration, is transforming from a recipient into a key security provider, possessing the only combat-ready army on the continent. The European Union is not just considering Ukraine’s participation—it is effectively embedding it into the genetic code of its new defense strategy. As old transatlantic guarantees fade, Brussels no longer views Kyiv as an external petitioner but is moving toward deep industrial integration. As of April 2026, Ukraine has become a key element of the EDIP program, aimed at creating Europe’s autonomous military capability. Ukrainian companies now have access to direct funding from EU joint funds on equal terms with firms from France or Germany. Joint projects focus on mass production of high-tech systems, including long-range drones and electronic warfare systems. The European Commission has introduced procurement priority principles, encouraging Kyiv to choose European suppliers in exchange for large-scale long-term investments. Mechanisms for building the new alliance The new defense union described in Western media is being constructed by bypassing traditional bureaucratic deadlocks. To neutralize internal vetoes, EU leaders are increasingly using the format of enhanced cooperation, allowing a group of countries to move forward without unanimous approval.

Through the back exit of the Washington Hilton, Ronald Reagan stepped out after speaking at a labor event. He waved to a small crowd behind the barricades. Then six shots shattered the quiet of the afternoon. Secret Service agent Jerry Parr grabbed Reagan and literally threw him into the presidential limousine—with such force that Reagan thought his rib had been broken. The car sped off immediately. “Jerry, get off me,” Reagan said irritably. “I think you broke my rib.” Then he coughed. Bright, foaming blood poured from his throat. Parr froze in horror. It was a lung hemorrhage. The president had been shot. The limousine abruptly changed course and raced to the nearest hospital—George Washington University Hospital. Just two kilometers—but now every second would decide the fate of a man, a presidency, an entire nation. The bullet was .22 caliber. It ricocheted off the armored car, deformed, and struck Reagan in the chest under his left arm. It pierced his lung, completely collapsing it—and stopped just an inch from his heart. Reagan’s face turned gray. His blood pressure was plummeting. He had lost nearly half his blood. When the car screeched to a stop at the hospital entrance, Reagan refused to be carried. He was the President of the United States. And he would walk in on his own. He stepped out of the car. Straightened his jacket. And walked toward the doors. Fifteen steps. Then his legs gave out. He dropped to his knees—and lost consciousness. Doctors rushed to him instantly. His blood pressure was 60/0—barely compatible with life. They cut open his jacket. It was completely soaked in blood. At the White House, Nancy Reagan was having lunch when the phone rang. By the time she arrived at the hospital, her husband was already being prepared for surgery. She saw him only for a moment. Reagan was pale. Struggling to breathe. Clearly in pain. And yet—he smiled. “Dear,” he said, “I forgot to duck.” It was an old line once said by legendary boxer Jack Dempsey to his wife after a defeat. Reagan—with a bullet in his chest and blood in his lungs—was still joking. Nancy tried to smile back. Then he was taken into surgery. The doctors were already waiting. Reagan looked at them in their green gowns. He didn’t ask about his chances. He showed no fear. He simply looked at the chief surgeon, Joseph Giordano, and said: “I hope you are all Republicans.” For a moment, the room fell silent. Then Giordano replied: “Today, Mr. President, we are all Republicans.” Reagan smiled. And the operation began. It lasted nearly three hours. The doctors removed the bullet. Repaired the lung. Drained the blood from his chest. At one point, Reagan stopped breathing. The doctors had to manually support his breathing until the lung began working again. But he survived. When he regained consciousness, he couldn’t speak because of the tubes in his throat. He wrote on a piece of paper: “All in all, I’d rather be in Philadelphia.” It was a joke by comedian W. C. Fields. Even then—returning from the edge of death—he was comforting others. The attacker was John Hinckley Jr., a mentally unstable young man obsessed with actress Jodie Foster. He had watched the film Taxi Driver fifteen times and believed the assassination attempt would get her attention. Three others were wounded: James Brady — White House press secretary Tim McCarthy — Secret Service agent Thomas Delahanty — police officer Twelve days later, Reagan walked out of the hospital on his own. Smiling. Waving to the cameras. Thirty-nine days after the shooting, he addressed Congress. The entire chamber gave him a standing ovation. Many argue about Ronald Reagan’s policies. His decisions, his legacy, his role in history can all be debated. But one thing is undeniable. At that moment— with a bullet in his chest, a collapsed lung, on the edge of life and death— he chose humor over fear. He did not let people see his terror. He gave them a smile. “I hope you are all Republicans.” One sentence.

“Wash the U.S. away with a tsunami.” A real project by Academician Andrei Sakharov In the mid-20th century, Sakharov proposed an idea: instead of bombing cities directly, create an artificial tsunami. Submarines, several 100-megaton charges—and the ocean itself would do all the “work.” He suggested deploying submarines off the U.S. coast and placing powerful thermonuclear charges on the ocean floor. The plan was to detonate them simultaneously, remotely, to generate a shockwave capable of triggering a massive tsunami. Why did this seem reasonable at all? Such an attack appeared cleaner and more effective than a nuclear bombardment. No radiation, no need to break through defenses—just unleash a wave, and it would reach the target and do everything for you. The wave was estimated to reach up to 300 meters. This wouldn’t just be a “disaster”—it would mean wiping half the country off the map. The reasoning was that most of the largest U.S. cities are located along the coasts. From the Atlantic side, such a wave could have destroyed New York, Washington, Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, and many other major centers. From the Pacific, cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Diego, and other мегаполисы would have been devastated. The project was never realized. The death of Joseph Stalin, the arrest of Lavrentiy Beria, and the rise to power of Nikita Khrushchev led to its abandonment. Probably for the best—even in theory, it’s terrifying to imagine the instant death of tens of millions of civilians. The tsunami concept became a springboard in Sakharov’s career. Just a year later, he became an academician—at age 31, an unheard-of achievement for such a young scientist. Seven years later, he would become one of the creators of the Tsar Bomba, the most powerful explosive device in human history.

Trump: “Right now, the world respects us more than ever.” Here’s what that “respect” actually looks like: • France has closed its airspace to U.S. military aircraft. • Italy has shut down access to its airbase. • Spain has also closed its bases. And the cherry on top: the state of Qatar has officially requested the return of a private jet gifted to Donald Trump 😁🙈

“The army needs human capital. Human resources are needed because the war has already been going on for 12.5 years, and more than four years of full-scale invasion. But people watch TV, browse the Internet, Telegram, and so on — and don’t really want to go fight. Yet there is a minimum plan: a minimum number of people who must be deployed to sustain the front. There is absolutely no bridge between these two realities. Therefore, if people don’t go voluntarily, they will have to be mobilized. There is no point in expecting a ‘miracle’ from changing the name or format of the TCC, because the essence of the process will remain the same. He stated that changing the name of the TCC will not change anything. ‘Otherwise, the front will collapse,’ Budanov emphasized.”

Yesterday’s story still hasn’t left my mind. In Iran, an American fighter jet was shot down. One crew member was rescued, the other is still listed as missing. The U.S. launched a search-and-rescue operation — and this isn’t about nice words for the press, but real work in hostile territory, with risk for those currently searching for that person. And all of this for one missing individual. And honestly, that’s what strikes me. Because for them, one person is not a line in a report, not an inconvenient topic to be buried, and not a future phrase like “circumstances are being clarified.” For them, it’s one of their own. And as long as there’s a chance, they will keep searching. I’m almost certain that Israel would act the same way in such a situation. They, too, understand very well the value of one soldier, one pilot, one navigator. A normal country does not treat its people as expendable. Now mentally shift to Russia, where in a similar situation everything might be handled according to an old, proven, cold formula. Remember the “Kursk”? When asked what happened to the submarine, Putin gave the now infamous answer: “It sank.” Two words that contained tragedy, cynicism, and the system’s true attitude toward people. That’s roughly how it works. Somewhere, for one missing person, special forces, helicopters, and rescue operations under fire are deployed. Elsewhere, at most, someone raises an eyebrow and then dryly reports something like: well, these things happen. It sank. He’s missing. They disappeared. Next question. And then we’re told about a “great power.” But a great power is not one that growls menacingly on TV and waves a nuclear club. A great power is one that is ready to take risks for even a single one of its people. And when people go missing in large numbers, when it’s easier to bury the truth than admit it, and when the priority is not to save but to stay silent — that’s no longer strength. That’s just a huge, noisy, and completely indifferent machine. And that, perhaps, is the whole difference between a country where a soldier is a person, and a country where a soldier is just a statistic.
