Uganda remains peaceful and stable despite rising threats from the Allied Democratic Forces(ADF), Maj. Gen. Richard Otto, UPDF Chief of Defence and Intelligence has told the Committee on Defence and Internal Affairs. Otto who was appearing before the committee alongside Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs officials, led by State Minister for Defence, Hon. Huda Oleru, said that whereas UPDF has pushed ADF 300kms away from Uganda’s border in joint DRC operations, the danger isn’t over as the rebel outfit is still plotting attacks, using encrypted applications like WhatsApp and Telegram. Currently, Uganda has registered 700 violent crime incidents since January 2026. #CommitteeUg

I am deeply saddened by the disturbing incident today at an infants school in Ggaba where four innocent souls were stabbed to death. It is very very disturbing. I want to thank the security forces who swiftly responded before more kids lost their lives. With the culprit apprehended, i’m sure justice will be served. My heartfelt sympathies to the families of these innocent souls, the school community and all those affected. My prayer is that we don’t take this as a mere isolated incident but rather a reminder to revise safety measures at our schools. May the souls of the innocent souls rest in eternal peace.
