I’ve noticed that when some people try to attack me, they use labels like “ex-rapper,” “ex-thug,” or “ex-gangster,” as if those words are meant to offend me. But Alhamdulillah, I see them as a source of honor, not shame.
I’m proud to have left that life behind. I’m honored to be someone who was guided by Allah from that path to Islam. Many of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also had pasts that included things like drinking or wrongdoing, yet Allah guided them, elevated them, and made them among the best of people.
Our past does not define us. What truly matters is how we live now and how we die upon Islam.
Many people who were born into Islam yet and still haven’t fully understood it or properly practiced it. Guidance is something we all continuously strive for.
So no, those words don’t offend me. If anything, they remind me of how far Allah has brought me. They’re not insults; they’re a badge of honor.
May Allah guide all of us, grant us sincerity and keep us firm on the straight path.
