Keith Mitchell’s caddie is Brad Schneider, who played professionally for a long time, including 45 career KFT events along with 20 on Canada and Latin America Tours.
But his story is worth your time.
He was a very good junior player and right before college he was playing a touch football game when he got pulled backwards and broke his leg.
During surgery to repair it they discovered he had developed compartment syndrome which can cause serious damage to muscles.
It required 5 more surgeries in the next 8 days and left him unable to walk for 6 months.
He had to learn to walk again. He redshirted his first year at UCF, then had a great redshirt freshman year despite wearing a brace all year.
Then before his sophomore year Brad lost his mom to cancer and the same week lost his grandma.
Inexplicable tragedy, yet somehow became an all conference player and received the David Toms award for overcoming adversity.
He won multiple mini-tour events and had multiple seasons of some KFT status. However his leg was a problem, it was hard to practice and he and Keith are good friends.
It’s awesome to see him finding success.

That is probably worth more than the check. He is so correct
Monday Q Info@acaseofthegolf1
One of the biggest perks for qualifiers who made the cut, like Spencer Tibbits, isn’t the check they will get on Sunday (tho that will be very nice). It is the fact they now get to skip the first stage of Q-school, which is HUGE for players with no status.

Kaito Onishi is tied for the lead very early in his round but his story is the best example of “every stroke matters” that I know.
In 2023 on KFT Onishi came into the final event before the Tour Championship 107th in points. He needed to finish in the top 100 in points to keep conditional status.
He opened with a 4-over 75 that week and was well outside the cut line. However, a second round 67, including two late birdies, allowed him to make the cut by two.
However he struggled again in the third round, shooting 76 and was well outside the top 100 in points. He would need an amazing last round.
And he got it.
A final round 67 that included a four hole stretch where Onishi went 5-under, vaulted him up the leaderboard 34 spots. But there would still be a wait to see if it was good enough.
AJ Crouch had a chance to jump him on the points list and was two hours behind him.
Crouch birdied the last hole and finished T11. Had he finished 1 stroke better, he would have knocked Onishi to 101st. Crouch finished 2 points out 100th.
Martin Contini who missed the cut that week finished 101st, and just one point less than Onishi.
Kaito Onishi kept his conditional card by one stroke....over the entire season. 22 events and nearly 5700 strokes, and it came down to one stoke.
Onishi went back to first stage in hopes to improve his status, but WD when he was far outside the number to advance. Had he finished 101st in points he would have had no status at all this season.
However he got into the 3rd KFT event in 2024 season based on his 100th place finish in points last season and finished T8. From there he reshuffled in, meaning he would get into almost all of the events the rest of the year. He won just a few weeks later.
In 2025 he played on the pga tour but lost his card. This year he’s made 4 of 8 cuts on the KFT. But the only reason he still has any status is because of one stroke over an entire season in 2023.

Bud Cauley and Zack Fischer have played a combined 31 pro seasons, and yesterday they both won.
Car accidents, injuries, spouses that supported them both.
We write how the pair remind us that the pursuit is worthwhile.

Eight years ago today I started a Twitter account about Monday Qs for something to do while our son recovered from brain surgery.
I don’t know what the fuck happened in between but today I’m in England filming a show. I’m not positive I’m still asleep and this is all a dream.
But I do know until I wake up I don’t take moments like this for granted.
Thank you to all of you who have made this possible.
