@CoreMathsTom What proportion of the people are stadium staff? What proportion of the audience have seats, what proportion standing? What proportion are waving torches? What proportion are older than the singer? What proportion are so high up they daren't leave their seat?

@cchapman85 That’s a good point, I’ve not fully embraced* the new calculator so why should I expect to get used to it if I keep running back to the original classwiz. Perhaps I need to commit - maybe in September! *barely used might be more accurate!

@PCMaths Controversial perhaps but I don’t mind the new GCSE Casio. Yes it was horrible the first few times I used it, but it’s good when you get used to it. My Year 10 class have no problems with it.

Seem to think there was a discussion about alternatives to the latest classwiz calculator recently but I can’t find the posts, were any feasible, non graphical, alternatives identified for A level/GCSE?

@Sheena2907 I don’t think so as GCSE Stats doesn’t count as passing grade 4 maths in terms of a resit etc, and it generally sits in the optional buckets in Progress 8 of our students. We do GCSE stats in year 10 for our whole cohort

If a student is early entered in year 10 for gcse stats does this count as their first attempt at a gcse in maths? Does it count towards progress measures?

@RhydianWatkins @mathsjem I'm not sure I'd keep using the squares as a method, because for large square factors it will be inefficient, so I'd probably use the squares more in my initial explanation.

Y13FM and I really enjoyed this FM rich task from @Integral_Maths (its in the Matrices & Inverses section) and @therispguy last week. Great matrices recap and interesting result in Part 3, and algebraic neatness when justifying - lovely!

I’m in a different classroom virtually every lesson on my timetable so I’ve invested in a toolbox to carry key equipment. I’ve got my visualiser and sticky notes in it so far. What else would you be packing?
