The forum gave us an opportunity to discuss salient national issues on the state of the nation, security concerns and the erosion of democratic principles by the ruling APC. We also deliberated on the upcoming national convention of our great party. We implore members and supporters of our great party to remain steadfast as we reposition the PDP as the best option for our dear nation.

Let me once again thank my brother, HE Dr @daudalawal_, for graciously hosting the PDP Governors’ Forum in Gusau, this weekend. I also appreciate the good people of Zamfara State for their warm hospitality.

As we celebrate 26 years of continuous democracy, let us remember that power resides with us, the people. Wishing all Nigerians a Happy Democracy Day!

This afternoon, the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU) held a solidarity walk to the Secretariat to thank Governor Seyi Makinde for the prompt payment of bursary awards.

This evening, we were at the opening of Bankyloolas Mobile and Pasta Pan in Oluyole, Ibadan. In my remarks, I encouraged the entrepreneurial spirit behind the brand as one of the three things (along with education and intensive production) that we need in Nigeria right now to drive economic growth. I also said they should think globally not just locally or nationally using the example of Nandos which originated in South Africa.

We also inspected the ongoing upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport to an international airport. Work is progressing on the new terminal building and the expansion of the runway to accommodate bigger aircraft.

Earlier today, we inspected the ongoing construction of the 110 km Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road. The bridges and interchanges for the 32.2 km South East Wing have already been completed and the road construction is progressing as scheduled. This part will be ready before the end of the year. The North East Wing of about 36 km is currently being cleared.

In my newsletter today, I talked about the need for right-thinking members of society to take a stand against the illegal suspension of elected officials in the executive and legislative arms of government as part of a state of emergency declared by the president in Rivers State. Wishing you and your loved ones a merry Christmas. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, let us continue to pray for our dear State and nation. We also pray for all those who are mourning the loss of their beloved children at this time, may God continue to comfort them.

I also expressed gratitude to everyone who joined us at the commissioning and called for unity as we reposition the PDP to offer Nigerians a better option starting with the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State this month.
