(I read about it somewhere) if they really released a sequel instead of a cartoon, it would have been very suspicious and obvious right away:))

@PDrebed @BurritoGlasses @Stranger_Things I think the same. They “couldn’t write” and had to “rush” the season 5 script. They had 3 years. But 4 months later we get a full fledged canon animated series. The duffers contract require Netflix to have them involved with all things stranger things.
